An Essential Book for Your Spiritual Library
Revisado: 06-22-24
I have read many books on religion and spirituality from the early Church Father’s to Henri Nouwen, Karl Rahner, Ron Rolheiser, Richard Rohr, Peter Kreeft, CS Lewis, Benedict’s Groeschel and others. This book is essential for anyone seeking a deeper, more fruitful spiritual life. It is for Catholics and non-Catholics alike. O’Brien draws on wisdom from Catholic and Non-Catholic thinkers and writers. The book is deep, yet easy to read. There are layers and layers of insight. Accordingly, it is appropriate for wherever you are in your spiritual journey. It is a classic and not to be missed for those seeking a better life and a closer relationship with God.

Historia
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

Who Thought Eric Metaxas was Catholic?
Revisado: 04-25-24
The focus on the courage Protestant theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer who vocally opposed Adolf Hitler was well done and very interesting. However, the most surprising element of the book was the emphatic rejection of the Protestant doctrine of “faith alone” and the powerful articulation of the Catholic view of what “faith” actually means. The book is a call for religious people in America to speak out and oppose the evil around us.

In this brilliant narrative of America's first limited war, Toland lets both the events and the participants speak for themselves, employing scrupulous archival research and interviews as the bases for the drama and accuracy of his writing. In Mortal Combat reveals Mao's prediction of the date and place of MacArthur's Inchon landing, Russia's indifference to the war, Mao's secret leadership of the North Korean military, and the true nature of both sides' treatment and repatriation of POWs.

Historia
Fall, 1944. Paris has been liberated, saved from destruction, but this diversion on the road to Berlin has given the Germans time to regroup. The American and British armies press on from the west, facing the enemy time and again in the Hurtgen Forest, during the Market-Garden invasion, and at the Battle of the Bulge, all while American general George Patton and British field marshal Bernard Montgomery vie for supremacy as the Allies’ top battlefield commander.

An enjoyable book
Revisado: 11-18-22
Taking Berlin is a very good book on the subject. The author does a very good job at bringing the conflict to life through the words of Generals Patton, Gavin and Rommel, journalist Martha Gelhorn (Ernest Hemingway’s wife), Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin. The author weaved in the political complexities and concessions made by General Eisenhower. Eisenhower himself comes off as a buffoon more concerned about soothing British egos than victory.

Historia
Action-packed from the start, Hidden Order demonstrates yet again why Brad Thor is the "master of thrillers". A string of high-profile kidnappings has Washington, D.C., in a frenzy. When the victims begin turning up dead, frenzy turns to panic. And when the ransom demand is finally made public, panic will turn to terror. In Brad Thor's riveting new thriller, the stakes have never been higher, nor the lines between good and evil so hard to discern.

Another strong book about China’s elite
Revisado: 01-12-22
This is a very enjoyable and eye opening book. The story moves fast and the reader is fantastic. The main characters get caught up in their success and convince themselves that they are safe in a lawless country where raw power rules. Only too late does the main character realize the danger that any outsider to the Red Aristocracy faces day to day.
