Was this a commercial?
Revisado: 10-31-21
This seemed like a commercial for the author’s tout service with a side of celebrity gossip. Would not recommend this book to anyone.

Historia
After covering the American sports scene for 15 years, Chuck Culpepper suffered from a profound case of Common Sportswriter Malaise. He was fed up with self-righteous proclamations, steroid scandals, and the deluge of in-your-face PR that saturated the NFL, the NBA, and MLB. Then in 2006, he moved to London and discovered a new and baffling world - the renowned Premiership soccer league. Culpepper pledged his loyalty to Portsmouth, a gutsy, small-market team at the bottom of the standings. As he puts it, “It was like childhood, with beer.”

Enjoyable listen
Revisado: 08-06-18
I really enjoyed this book. It’s more about Portsmouth season from the year he wrote is than the EPL as a whole. It’s definitely worth a listen if you enjoy soccer though.

Historia
In what is widely hailed as the best of his many novels, Charles Bukowski details the long, lonely years of his own hardscrabble youth in the raw voice of alter ego Henry Chinaski. From a harrowingly cheerless childhood in Germany through acne-riddled high school years, and his adolescent discoveries of alcohol, women, and the Los Angeles Public Library's collection of D. H. Lawrence, Ham on Rye offers a crude, brutal, and savagely funny portrait of an outcast's coming-of-age during the desperate days of the Great Depression.

I found this kind of boring. Nothing really interesting happens. This kid has a sad life and turns into an jerk as a teenager. I just saved you all 9 hours.

This book was fantastic. Probably the fastest I’ve ever finished an audiobook. He tells such an interesting story. It’s honest, heartfelt, happy, sad, funny, and inspiring. The performance was pretty much perfect for the mood of the book. I highly recommend this book.

Just too long
Revisado: 01-19-17
The story is good but after the platoon graduates, it is really dry and boring. I'd listen to the first 7 hours or so then skip to the last 47 minutes where they catch up with some recruits. Would be 4 stars if it wasn't for that 3 hour stretch that was so dry and uninteresting.

A strange and charming collection of hilariously absurd poetry and writing from one of today's most popular young comedians...In Egghead, Bo brings his brand of brainy, emotional comedy in the form of off-kilter poems, thoughts, and more. Bo takes on everything from death to farts in this weird audiobook that will make you think, laugh and think, "why did I just laugh?"

Historia
Funnyman Adam Carolla is known for two things: hilarious rants about things that drive him crazy and personal stories about everything from his hardscrabble childhood to his slacker friends to the hypocrisy of Hollywood. He tackled rants in his first book, and now he tells his best stories and debuts some never-before-heard tales as well. Adam Carolla started broke and blue collar and has now been on the Hollywood scene for over 15 years. Yet he never lost his underdog demeanor.

So I just listened to this book (July 2016) and it is funny, but I've been listening to his podcast for the last year or so and I've already heard 80% of the stories on the pod. It's good, but it'd be better if you never heard the stories before.

Historia
Simon Majumdar is probably not your typical idea of an immigrant. As he says, "I'm well rested, not particularly poor, and the only time I ever encounter 'huddled masses' is in line at Costco." But immigrate he did, and thanks to a Homeland Security agent who asked if he planned to make it official, the journey chronicled in Fed, White, and Blue was born. In it, Simon sets off on a trek across the United States to find out what it really means to become an American, using what he knows best: food.

Very average.
Revisado: 06-17-16
This falls under the "everything is great" style the food network has on food. That every meal he eats on his journey across America is amazing and life-changing, as if he's afraid to offend someone. The only negative thing he said was about Taco Bell. Some of the people he met were interesting, but the narrator uses the same accent for everyone. Wasn't a memorable book, would suggest finding something else.
