[3.5/5] For all the rage and resentment that’s been building between Cole and Ally since she had to leave him without a word — it’s still always been her. Cole has experienced a lifetime of rejection and abandonment and my heart broke for him when it so clearly fueled his anger toward Ally, his angel who’d saved him when he needed it most.
It was so easy to get caught up in the audiobook and the narrators did a fantastic job conveying all the emotion going on with these two

So much intrigue!

I loved the mental health representation for Aiden in how tenderly Cassidy helped him manage his compulsions and more how he worked to overcome the ingrained shame he felt from people who should have shown him nothing but compassion and care. Cassidy’s character had so much we didn’t get to know outright, and the intrigue kept the pace of the story moving quickly.
The chemistry was always there for Aiden and Cassidy, even when her identity was secret and she was getting more and more wrapped up in the ruse. Aiden was so sweet in how he kept true to his word from promises they’d made as kids and I loved how much of his own comfort and privacy he was willing to risk for her.
The narration was well done and added to the scenes beautifully!

Two years ago Connor Morgan was Ella Henshaw’s first, and promptly dismissed her in a way that left her wanting nothing to do with him or the hockey team. But her friend convinces her to attend Laker House’s annual Bite the Ice Halloween party where she runs into the one person she was trying to avoid, and Connor jumps at his opportunity to convince Ella to give him a second chance.
I loved Ella and Connor’s relationship in crisis story in book 3 of the series, Beneath the Ice, so this was the perfect time to read a Halloween themed background on their romance. Knowing that these two are endgame and seeing their chemistry come out more in their own book I think makes it easier to excuse some of the less endearing fumbling of two young characters trying to find their footing in their relationship. This was a low angst, quick read and a fun glimpse at the characters of the Lakeshore U world!
This was my first audiobook in duet narration, and this does so much to bring the characters to life!
