Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Drawn out plot
Revisado: 04-04-25
First, it seemed to take the plot ages to unfold. I had skip several chapters because it was getting tedious. Second, I was just getting used to the last narrator’s character voices and now a new one emerges. He has a pleasant voice. I’m not sure about his ability to distinguish the different characters. I’ll listen to the next book for I like the characters, I just didn’t care for the plot. And for the record, I have listened to all the books.

Entertaining story and enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one. Not crazy about the word requirement for reviews....

Historia
After her last remaining family member dies, Sara Jenkins goes home to The Hideaway, her grandmother Mags’s ramshackle B&B in Sweet Bay. She intends to quickly tie up loose ends then return to her busy life and thriving antique shop in New Orleans. Sweet story.

I loved the relationship between the characters and the intergenerational storyline. A simple life is sometimes difficult to find.

Historia
In North Devon, where two rivers converge and run into the sea, Detective Matthew Venn stands outside the church as his estranged father’s funeral takes place. On the day Matthew left the strict evangelical community he grew up in, he lost his family, too. Now, as he turns and walks away again, he receives a call from one of his team. A body has been found on the beach nearby: A man with a tattoo of an albatross on his neck, stabbed to death.

Too much personal detail and the lead detective has no confidence!
Revisado: 07-23-20
Too much personal details for the beginning of the series and I found myself not liking the lead detective. Clearly there is a dislike for Christianity and being a Christian, it was a bit irritating. I like Ann Cleeves as a writer but this series is not for me. In addition, I don't think it is as well written as her other books.
