Historia
From age-defying makeup to the latest diet fad, our culture continually tells women they need to have a flawless face and a supermodel figure. Exposing the lie of physical perfection for what it really is, True Beauty directs women to the truth of God’s Word, which proclaims an entirely different - and refreshingly liberating - standard for beauty. Carolyn Mahaney and her daughter Nicole Whitacre set forth a path to freedom from the false idols that society, the Devil, and the human heart have created.

Need to get the book- narration is distracting
Revisado: 12-03-20
Narration sounds robotic. Only could listen for less than an hour. I think the content is really good but am distracting by the narrator. She has a good voice, just sounds too rushed.

Sappy
Revisado: 06-19-19
Enjoyed book 1 but as I progressed through 2 & 3 I got less and less interested. Pretty predictable but probably would make a good hallmark movie. Janet Metzger narration kept me listening. 5 stars for her.

Sappy for this one
Revisado: 10-30-18
I’ve read almost all of Lisa Wingates books and for the most part enjoyed them. I’m not sure if this reader ruined the book for me or the story itself was just that sappy. Very disappointing.

Too many loose ends 😒
Revisado: 07-06-17
I really, really wanted to love this book but I just felt it was jumbled up most of the time. I waited to put my review in so I could let the whole story stew in my head to better understand it. Over time however I would remember parts of it and wonder what happened to .... and so on. Just didn't seam to come together in my mind like the Prayer Box. While I didn't exactly like the story, I did walk away with a better understanding of the mountain people.

Historia
In 1918, after four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia to take a job as the lighthouse keeper on remote Janus Rock. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes only four times a year and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Three years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel is tending the grave of her newly lost infant when she hears a baby’s cries on the wind. A boat has washed up on shore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

Fair story, but really hard to listen to.

Any additional comments?
I have been a member of Audible for years and this is about the only narrator I really had a hard time listening to. He always sounded so depressing. I could understand the Irish accent but almost couldn't finish the book because of the narration. I found myself opening the hard copy up to read instead of having to listen to this voice.

Historia
Mrs. Dalloway, perhaps Virginia Woolf’s greatest novel, vividly follows English socialite Clarissa Dalloway as she prepares for a party in post-World War I London. Four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening (American Beauty, The Kids Are All Right) brings Woolf’s stream-of-consciousness style of storytelling to life, exploring the hidden springs of thought and action in one day of a woman’s life in a brilliant performance.

Had to buy a different version
Revisado: 03-04-13
If you could sum up Mrs. Dalloway in three words, what would they be?
Not sure if it's me or not, but Annette Bening really put me to sleep. I listened to her for about an hour but my mind kept wandering because she was so boring to listen to. I am now listening to Phillidia Law's version and right away I'm captivated with it.
