I received a free copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Anasazi Intrigue is the first book in The Adventure of John and Julia Evans series. Anasazi Intrigue follows husband and wife duo John and Julia as they get mixed up in a hometown mystery that is bigger than they bargained for.

I listened to the audiobook of Anasazi Intrigue and I really enjoyed it. It was about 7 hours long and and I listened to it at 1.25 speed and was able to listen to the full audiobook in a day. This was a fun mystery that had alot of equal parts heart and danger. I loved the setting and thought that the author did an amazing job describing it and I loved that it incorporated information on the Anasazi Indians which I had not previously known about and was really interesting that I honestly wish there had been more detail but I think what we got was well balanced in the story.

I enjoyed the narrator, I thought she did a great job at the various voices she uses throughout the book.

The two main characters John and Julia were definitely the prize for me in this book. I loved seeing a healthy, strong marriage between these characters. You really feel how in love they are. I loved their playful banter, their admiration of each other and I also loved that through all that they still weren’t passed off as perfect, they had their downs in this book as well. I appreciated that as that made them feel real to me.

If you are looking for a light mystery read that features a fun, wholesome relationship and family, some danger, some history and some small town vibes, check this book out. It was really fun and this author always tells a great mystery. 4 stars!

Would you consider the audio edition of My Father's Son to be better than the print version?

I don't necessarily think one is better than the other. They are both fantastic and are different experiences. I did enjoy the narrator of the audiobook as it felt like a conversation with a friend, rather than reading a book but I would recommend both.

What other book might you compare My Father's Son to and why?

I haven't read many memoirs that deal with child abuse but if I had to pick one that does it would be A Child Called It but it has been years since I read that one. I do read a few memoirs but not like this one so I think, at least to me, it stands on its own.

What about Steven Jay Cohen’s performance did you like?

I loved his pacing. He read the story in a soothing, slow pace and tone which i think this book really needed due to the heavy topics presented in it. It was a very soothing, personable voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did definitely listen to this all in one sitting both because of the content and the length.

Any additional comments?

This memoir is gripping, at times gritty and just very real. Both when I read and listened to this on audiobook, I just wanted to hug little John and save him, hold his hand and tell him it’d be okay and that he wasn’t alone. This book, and others like it, I think are important ones. This was so different from my childhood, and I think when we don’t see stories like these we naively see the world through blinders and stories like this help me to remember that everyone has a different story and is going through different things and to always be compassionate towards everyone.

While this book does deal with the heavy topics of child abuse and drugs…it does also feature very heart warming things as well like family and self discovery. This was wonderful as an audiobook and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. My listening experience of My Father’s Son was a wholly different experience than reading it, although I think either way you experience this book is worthy of five stars. I thank the author for sharing the story of his childhood with the world, something that must have been difficult to begin with but reading it has definitely helped me to reflect and taught me a few things as well.

If you could sum up The Shamrock Case in three words, what would they be?

Fun, light mystery.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think Rick is my favorite character in this series. He's feisty, funny and fun. He gives Amelia a hard time but is also really sweet to her.

What about Diane Lehman’s performance did you like?

I loved her performance. I appreciated her switching voices depending on which character she was narrating from. Bravo!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It did make me me laugh in a few spots. I love this series because I always feel like I just got done hanging out with good friends when I finish listening to it which is what I love about cozy mysteries.

Any additional comments?

This was a fun, light read and I'm happy to hear that the series isn't finished yet. Looking forward to going on another case with Amelia and Rick.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. This book was really enjoyable. The romance was fun and the plot itself was pretty fast paced and entertaining. The story itself was pretty interesting. I liked the two main characters, Amelia and Rick, a lot. My experience with his audiobook was definitely a pleasant one and it went by a lot quicker than what I expected. Fans of both the romance genre and detective stories may enjoy this book. I found it to be fun, humorous and romantic.

What other book might you compare The Bali Mystery to and why?

The Seduction of Miriam Cross (A Delilah Powers Mystery #1) by Wendy Tyson because they are both wonderfully written suspense mysteries featuring strong women as the detective.

Which character – as performed by Diane Lehman – was your favorite?

I had a lot of fun listening to this story on audiobook. I am sure I would have liked it equally had I read a physical copy. I loved the narrator of the audiobook I thought her voice was pleasant and loved how she acted out the various character voices.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Mystery, danger and passion mix in this romantic suspense to create a story that will keep you on the edges of your seat.
