Historia
Captured by slave traders when only 15, At-mun never forgot his roots as a prince. Nor did he ever lose his princely dignity and the courage to hold his head high. Sold at auction in America and haunted by the memory of his young sister left behind in Africa, At-mun, now Amos, began his long march to freedom. He dreamed of being free and of buying the freedom of his closest friends.

Narrator takes the book to a new level
Revisado: 01-08-25
A wonderful story- full of dynamics characters and story’s twists. A great book if you’re studying early American history as we were.
A great narrator is hard to find but this one is phenomenal!
Note- my boys thought there was too much romance but nothing was inappropriate.

Historia
In 1607, a year after the Virginia Company was granted a charter to establish a settlement in North America, 104 men set sail on a voyage to a new land. Among the brave adventurers who make the journey is a young boy named Samuel Collier, the page of famed Captain John Smith. Disease, famine, and continuing attacks by neighboring Algonquin Native Americans take a tremendous toll on the settlers. Samuel is one of the few to survive the harsh realities of the New World during the first few years of Jamestown.

Highly Engaging Listen
Revisado: 07-15-24
We found this book at random and decided to listen to it as we study early American history. We are so happy that we did as we thoroughly enjoyed the story, as well as the narration. We were engaged the entire time. FYI: There were multiple times, when death and killing was discussed, but not in a gruesome way. I appreciate that the topic was not ignored as this was the reality. As a homeschooling mother, I would highly recommend this book. The story was masterfully written and the narrator is phenomenal.

Historia
Widge is an orphan with a rare talent for shorthand. His fearsome master has just one demand: steal Shakespeare's play "Hamlet" - or else. Widge has no choice but to follow orders, so he works his way into the heart of the Globe Theatre, where Shakespeare's players perform. As full of twists and turns as a London alleyway, this entertaining novel is rich in period details, colorful characters, villainy, and drama.

Great Story, Excellent Narration
Revisado: 09-28-23
We read a lot in our homeschool and this was one of the great stories set in Shakespeare’s time. The story line kept us engaged, the vocabulary and writing style was refreshing and the narration- excellent. Highly recommend.

A “whole family” story
Revisado: 02-04-21
Our family listened first to the first book, Little Britches and we decided to give this one a try as well. The entire family, even the teenagers enjoyed it thoroughly! The narrator is EXCELLENT. Hard to listen to anything less enjoyable after this.

Just Excellent!
Revisado: 02-10-18
I spontaneously purchased this book to listen to because I have four boys, age 14 down.
We were hooked right away and it kept our attention the entire time. The story is amazing, with so many valuable lessons. Any boy who loves cowboys, ranches and adventure will enjoy this. The best part is that it's a true story so it's all very historically accurate. It will go down as one of our favorite books!
I have to add that this narrator is excellent! He sets the bar really high for narrators. It's hard to listen to anything less than well done now.
THE ONLY CON:
I am a Christian and dirty language bothers me. This book does have several "bad words". Not the modern filth but nevertheless words such as "da*m" and "he*l" made their way it. There were a few mentions of "brandy" and "saloons" but nothing excessive.

Today, Hudson Taylor's story continues to challenge and inspire believers young and old to carry the anchoring gospel message, regardless of personal trial or hardships, to those who are adrift and without hope.

Unless God helps us, there is no hope, Captain Morris yelled over the roar of the storm. Hudson Taylor had to agree. Indeed the Dumfries might sink this very day and he would never live to see the shores of China, a land whose people he was certain God had called him to. Hudson survived his perilous maiden voyage to his beloved China. With his heart set in determined obedience to God, Hudson overcame persecution and almost overwhelming personal losses to bring God's truth to the "ripe harvest fields" of China.

Historia
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

Narration could be better
Revisado: 11-14-17
I love everything about this story. The reading it's self was not very crisp. I think that part could have been better. Overall I would recommend it but wish the narration was better.
