Confused
Revisado: 03-12-21
Ok, this book is included in the Audible plus catalog, so it was kind of free. It is advertised as a romance. I don’t consider this book a romance novel. The writing was good, I laughed out loud a few times. Teddy Hamilton was great as usual, but he could use a little work on his British accent.
Why I wasn’t a fan of the book:
*Spoiler alert*
The main characters don’t meet in person & speak to each other until the very end of the book. The way the description read, I assumed there would be some conflict between them because of the age difference, but nope. You get a brief epilogue that shows them together, but that’s it. How is that a romance novel?

Historia
At only 32, Bishop Stockley has lived a hard-knock life. After doing five years in a federal prison, Bishop is back at his dad's trailer and working for his landscaping company, thrust into a legit world where he's no longer the alpha - a world where a criminal record is the least of his disadvantages, because Bishop can't read or write. Bishop already had the deck stacked against him, but he wasn't afraid of hard work to change his situation. Especially after he encountered Edison Scala, a kind-spirited office manager who didn't hesitate to come to his defense...

Great Book
Revisado: 02-23-21
I’ve been reading M/M romances for a couple of years now & I’m surprised that I haven’t read this author before. I give it 8/10. It’s totally worth a credit. But not sure if it is a re-read or not. It’s not light & fluffy, but it isn’t super angsty either. It has on-the-page sex (this is what I’m looking for in reviews).
I think the characters were well-developed & the storyline was pretty unique. It is a slow burn. I plan on reading the next book in the series & I hope we get an update on Bishop’s educational progress. The side characters were good & I’m interested in Trent & Wood’s story. Wood was only referenced a few times, but the author was able to give a sense of who he is & made me want to know more about him.
It is a little long and the first few chapters might seem extraneous, but it actually sets up the book where we don’t have a character with a lot of inner monologue to tell us his back story.
Also, if I was on a first date & my ex happened to be at the restaurant & wanted to sit down with me & my date, I’d tell him to F off. I guess some people might not do that? 🤷🏼♀️

This was an okay book. There was no sex “on the page,” which was disappointing for me.
***Spoiler Alert***
The characters don’t get together until there are 30 minutes left in the book. I wanted to see them together as couple more because they were good together. Also, I’m not sure if Henry/Harry groveled enough or had to work hard enough to get Harrison to forgive him.

Historia
When introverted doctor Ben Hardy's high-maintenance girlfriend wants to introduce a little more kink into their love life, he doesn't expect it to come in the form of the hunky new EMT who just moved to Blackwood. Ben's not gay, but damn! He can definitely see why all the women turn to mush when he's around: tall, blue eyes, body of an underwear model. The prospect of being naked in the same room with him is horrifying. So why the hell is he considering it?

Weird Book
Revisado: 10-12-20
Ok, so I borrowed this through audible escape & I didn’t notice the author when I first started listening to it. I actually stopped listening after Corey *spoiler alert* has sex with a woman to keep her away from Ben and they (Corey & Ben) go and have sex. I was just like wtf. I went back to read the description of the book & that’s when I noticed the author. She also wrote the Kage series with the boxer or whatever, which I started, but did not finish because I was so over the way the main character was treated. I listen or read books for HEA & I don’t like it when one of the characters hurts their love interest or other characters like in a significant way. I’m fine if the rival love interest or ex is a jerk, but I don’t want to hate one of the main characters. I ended up finishing this book because I was so far into it. Nothing else happened that made me want to stop. It was also a little over the top. Like I’m not a picky reader & I hate when reviewers are like there was no character development, etc., I can stretch my imagination, but everything in this book happens in two weeks, which includes: a doctor having a threesome with his gf & a new EMT, the EMT moving in at the doctor’s house, the doctor breaking up with his gf, the doctor kissing a random girl at a bar, the EMT kissing the doctor at the bar, the EMT becoming best friends with the random girl & telling her all about the doctor, the EMT having sex with a nurse & the doctor walking in on them & joining in (& no one seems to mind), the doctor adopts a little girl, the EMT & the doctor have sex at the hospital, the EMT is kidnapped by his ex-master & purchased by the doctor & then they have a new year’s party where they kiss in front of everyone.
So, if that sounds interesting, you should read this book. J.F. Harding kills it as always, that’s the real reason I selected this book in the first place.

Historia
Luc O'Donnell is tangentially - and reluctantly - famous. His rock-star parents split when he was young, and the father he's never met spent the next 20 years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad's making a comeback, Luc's back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything. To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He's a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and someone who has never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. He’s perfect boyfriend material.

Revisado: 08-08-20
This book was so funny. I laughed out loud multiple times through the whole thing. The characters were great & believable. However, I feel like the end was anti-climatic. I would have loved a grand gesture or Oliver being a little more apologetic and desperate that Luc take him back. Also, I don’t feel like the daddy-issues were wrapped up. I would have liked to see Luc & Oliver be together for real for at least a chapter. Little disappointed that the sex scenes were behind closed doors. I assumed there were graphic sex scenes, but there weren’t.

Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes best-selling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.

Spoilers Ahead
I liked this book okay. The main character, January, and her love interest Gus, were good. January’s emotional baggage and the way it was resolved rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it was too relatable for me.
January’s father cheated on her mother, TWICE, once while her mother was sick with cancer. Like that’s why he went back to the mistress because his wife gets cancer again & he needed comfort. The wife knows all of this & takes him back. Her father dies and has his ex-mistress give January a letter & a key to his lake house where he met up with his mistress. The father asks for her forgiveness for his mistakes and seems to try & justify his actions.
My father started dating a woman, a woman he is still with, that is 13 years younger than him when my mother was pregnant with me. I do love my father and he has provided a lot for me; however, if he was to ever ask forgiveness for his mistakes, I would tell him hell no. And my mother wasn’t dealing with a cancer diagnosis at the time.
It’s almost like a “boys will be boys” thing. Some people cheat & they are only humans & if they mess up (even twice, while their significant other is dealing with cancer), we’ll just assume they are flawed. No, people need to be held accountable for their actions.
The author gets into January’s feelings a little bit about by saying how could she trust anyone in a relationship after finding out about what her dad did to her mom, but it really doesn’t get resolved. And trust me, feelings like that don’t just go away. You deal with it every day in your relationship.
I don’t like to read books that normalize toxic masculinity. I’m not saying that’s what the author was trying to do and her story is very believable, there are probably thousands of men who have done the exact same thing. But I like to think books have to power to entertain and shape people’s behaviors and I hope that no woman reads this and thinks her cheating husband needs to be forgiven or her dad who cheated on her mother is just a flawed human. All people, men and women, have choices to make and they should be held accountable when their decisions hurt the people they are committed to. The author could have had January say, “I love my dad, but I can’t forgive him for what he did.” To show that woman don’t have to accept husbands or fathers having affairs. That’s just my opinion and I just needed to say it.

Historia
A mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video-game industry. In 1990, Nintendo had a virtual monopoly on the video-game industry. Sega, on the other hand, was just a faltering arcade company with big aspirations and even bigger personalities. But all that would change with the arrival of Tom Kalinske, a former Mattel executive who knew nothing about video games and everything about fighting uphill battles.

Interesting Read
Revisado: 07-21-20
Pros:
Very interesting
Easy to listen to
Not boring
Cons:
I didn’t like the way the narrator pronounced “Mario”
There are lots & lots of names
Overall it was chronological, but some events were described outside of the lineal timeline
I’m not super into video games, I mean, I play them, but I don’t know who develops or produces them or anything. This story was still fascinating. I had a NES & a Sega Genesis & the N64 growing up so it was interesting to learn about the how, who, what & why.
