Historia
Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds.Kelsier, Vin, Elend, Sazed, Spook, and the rest are now part of history—or religion. Yet the old magics of Allomancy and Feruchemy continue to play a role in this reborn world....

Good start to era 2, but Sando has cursed himself by writing at such a high level.
Revisado: 12-23-24
This is a fun entry back into the world of Scadrial. It is a good story with good characters and twists. I know this was supposed to be a quick one off, but the ending was very unfulfilling and definitely dosent stand alone, and it’s clear this book was a warm up for this next era of mistborn. TBH, Brando’s type of humor Dosent usually vibe with me, but Wax and Wayne is definitely getting closer to the mark. Lastly, Sanderson has quickly become one of my favorite authors, but this was just not his top self. A different author may have gotten a higher rating from me.

Historia
The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

Revisado: 12-14-24
Honestly one of the best and most memorable endings to trilogy ever. The final three hours is peak top shelf story telling without weakness. EVERY last subtle detail from every chapter of all 3 stories is addressed and every aspect of this story (plot, characters, world) is cared for with precision. A monumental Triumph! 🤯❤️

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Stormfather… What a story!
Revisado: 10-14-24
An absolute masterclass of novel writing. The in depth examinations of society, adversity, morals, purpose, leadership, injustice, revolution, betrayal, greed, spirit, destiny, among numerous other subtle aspects of life, explored through the incredibly rich universe and characters allows Sanderson to craft one of the most memorable and enjoyable novels ever.
Although this universe feels massive and the story takes a bit to grasp, I really appreciated the patient pace and the level of detail included. Sanderson was not in a hurry to tell the story and expose major plot points. There is considerable foreshadowing throughout, but never quite enough information, keeping the reader shrouded in mystery until the precise moment he intends. No important details are left unaddressed by the end, leaving you feeling completely fulfilled with this story. However just enough is revealed about where the story might be headed to keep me completely sucked in and ready for the next book in the series.
An instant classic, and new favorite, it’s safe to say I’m well on my way to becoming a major Brandon Sanderson fanboy.

Too disconnected and disjointed.
Revisado: 07-02-24
The intention of a generational evolutionary galactic story, and the topics and method of human control via different levers (religion, economy and industry) are very intriguing and interesting to me. The execution here fell short. Each part being totally different and unconnected to the last was disorienting and hard to follow, having to learn totally new characters, planets, technologies, and philosophies in a newly evolved time period didn’t flow well and was hard to follow.
This was probably ground breaking and mind blowing for its time, but has been done so much better in original ways in the years that followed.
Scott Brick is an absolute master of narration and probably made this story much more palatable than it would have been just reading it myself.

Maybe the best sci-fi book ever written! And that’s says alot as I just finished the entire frank herbert dune series, what a roller coaster ride this was from start to the very last word. An even deeper dive into the human psyche, society, and in particular war. Especially at a time when the real world is again being plunged into renewed conflict and unthinkable violence toward the already oppressed. Incredible ending!!

Top shelf sci-fi, though I loved the first book in the series I felt it was lacking and had more of a fantasy feel. Golden son is everything and more from what an action packed sci-fi should be!! I’m hooked.

Upon finishing this I immediately realized that the bit of lull of “Dune Messiah” was completely necessary for this masterpiece to truly flourish. Great Ending, I’m pumped to see where the duniverse goes next. Top notch narration of this series by Scott Brick!

The second Dune installment explores new developments on the planet Arrakis, with its intricate social order and strange, threatening environment. Dune Messiah picks up the story of the man known as Muad'Dib, heir to a power unimaginable, bringing to fruition an ambition of unparalleled scale: the centuries-old scheme to create a superbeing who reigns not in the heavens but among men. But the question is: DO all paths of glory lead to the grave?

A Dune classic! May Muad'dib live on forever!
Revisado: 05-22-23
Frank Herbert’s story telling and universe building power on full display. I preferred the narration all done by the same spectacular voice, then voice acting done by others for the characters, like in the first Dune… in this production (Dune: Messiah) we have the characters of whom the chapter is mostly focused on performing the narration and all characters’ voices. In my opinion much less effective and entertaining. Still a fantastic production!!!

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Revisado: 05-11-23
After one listen of this classic, I’m willing to put it up there with my favorites of all time. It took me a bit to get fully into, but the some what slow start made up for it with a few different peaks. The story just keeps elevating until the final word. Amazing first entry into this universe and I can’t wait to explore more.
Absolutely perfect voices and performances from the various narrators.
