Historia
Celie has grown up poor in rural Georgia, despised by society and abused by her own family. She strives to protect her sister, Nettie, from a similar fate, and while Nettie escapes to a new life as a missionary in Africa, Celie is left behind without her best friend and confidante, married off to an older suitor, and sentenced to a life alone with a harsh and brutal husband. In an attempt to transcend a life that often seems too much to bear, Celie begins writing letters to God. The letters, spanning 20 years, record a journey of self-discovery and empowerment guided by the light of a few strong women.

I enjoy listening to these logistics/supply chain podcasts—this one was particularly interesting regarding Apple’s involvement in China & India.

Historia
In this incisive audiobook, Peter Hartcher reveals how decades of economic dependence left Australia open to the strategic ambitions of the most successful authoritarian regime in modern history. He shows how ideology, paranoia and Xi Jinping’s personal story have reshaped China and shines new light on Beijing’s overt and covert campaign for influence - over trade and defence, media and politics.

Best book I’ve heard on the relationship between Australia and China. He goes in depth on issues with China and Australia’s analyses/responses. He also looks at US involvement. Great read!

Historia
The Indignities of Being a Woman candidly traces the history of womanhood and investigates how much things have really changed for womankind. By carefully x-raying areas such as body image, marriage, mental illness, fashion, and politics, this audiobook examines what it was like to be a woman in the past versus what it’s like now, when women are constantly told equality between the sexes exists but reality proves otherwise.

A lot about Trump
Revisado: 05-11-22
Listening to this audiobook was ok but the authors focus a lot on Trump which gets old after about the 5th or 6th time. Good analysis but not as interesting as I was expecting.

Great read!
Revisado: 03-28-22
I really enjoyed this book! I started reading after Colonel Hurd spoke to our ROTC cadets and it was definitely worth the read! He talks of ups and downs in his life, how he handled those situations, and his advice at the end. It was far better than the typical bio that just talks about all the good stuff—he was open and honest which kept me engaged and made me learn a lot more from his book.
