Historia
On Broadway, this fresh take on the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice has become a modern classic. Heralded as “The best new musical of the season” by The Wall Street Journal and “Sumptuous. Gorgeous. As good as it gets” by The New York Times, the show was a breakout hit, with its poignant social commentary and spellbinding music and lyrics. In this audiobook, Anaïs Mitchell takes listeners inside her more than decades-long process of building the musical from the ground up.

Anais Mitchel does an excellent job with this book, an honest and insightful take on her magnum opus, "Hadestown." A must read for writers who are obsessed with glory and how much work and effort a masterpiece often needs.

Historia
This colloquial translation of “The Sutra of Ksitigarbha’s Fundamental Vows” is an ancient 7th century Buddhist sutra most relevant to a chaotic time like now and to distressed people like us in this troubled world. “Ksitigarbha” means “Earth Treasury” and reflects the hidden treasures in the minds and hearts of all of us sentient beings. Through His great kindness and mercy, before the Buddha went into nirvana, He entrusted us to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Mahasattva as the sole rescuer for this earth and this era. May this sutra bring you peace, calm as well as inspiration!

The Only Work of its Kind
Revisado: 06-16-23
Excellent work by all parties involved in this translation and reading, especially our reader. One must walk the way to know the way, and the golden compassion of our guide shines through the words of the Suttra. This one of the only English translations of Khasitigharba's Fundamental Vows, and the only existing version available for audiobook.
While some readers may be bothered by the sound at times in this recording, the dharma is true and strong in this version of the suttra. The lessons in Khasitigharba's Suttra are as relevant now as ever, but such is the nature of the timeless and true Buddha Dharma.
Thank you, friends, for this incredible suttra, and may the light smile upon you.

Historia
The Lotus Sūtra is one of the most important Mahāyāna texts and the most widely read, chanted and revered, particularly in Asian Buddhist countries, notably China and Japan. It is certainly a remarkable document, replete with the Mahāyāna characteristics of fantastical images, extraordinary appearances, magical happenings, views of time and space which are galactic in size; and pronouncements which are definite, unequivocal, practical in some areas and dependent upon a faith commitment in others.

Revisado: 05-15-23
A wholly different sutra with layers of differing meaning. Essential content told in a discerning way, much of this sutra is circular, but to disseminate understanding. Not recommended for beginners or those new to the path.

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

Gets a Bad Rapport
Revisado: 04-19-23
This is excellently formulated and very well read. The constant references to history help you realize how universal and prevalent these rules are. If we are to be truly good people, we may not use many of these rules, but it would be foolish to disregard them, for others follow these guidelines. Everyone should read this book; you will understand much more of the world and see that very little is truly new or unique when it comes to despots and people of power.

One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 - 180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Today, the book stands as one of the great guides and companions - a cornerstone of Western thought.

Brando Sando Does It Again
Revisado: 08-08-22
I loved the end of the last Mistborn trilogy, and this is an amazing development to the series. Better than all the Stormlight books save for Way of Kings and the Sanderlanche that always comes at the end of things. The gun smithing and pacing of the story rip. You'll enjoy it.

The Best Book of the Brando Sando
Revisado: 02-11-22
This is it: the best book Brando has written so far. It will pull you along, it will subvert your expectations, and you will both laugh and cry. Michael does an excellent job with the reading, per usual, and you will be hard pressed to find a more fulfilling ending to a fantasy series. I'm surprised this hasn't been turned into films yet.
Also, this is essential reading if you are interested in the larger makeup of the Cosmere. Treasure this one, and Journey before Destination, my friends.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

An Incredible Memoir
Revisado: 01-31-22
Mr. Noah does a fantastic job here. The book is well written, pacey, and works subtly to bring readers into the fold of his life and experience. I've never read a book that, this personally, lays out the realities of Apartheid on multiple levels, and the consequences still in the culture today. You could be rather politically dense and close-minded, and this book might still be enough to open your mind to greater empathy. Funny, poignant, and the reading was top notch as well. A true 6/5 from me.

Incredible Moments Marred by Angst
Revisado: 01-11-22
Brando Sando returns and delivers in this epic set-up to a final showdown. The highs and the world building in this novel are truly awesome, with new Radiant powers and abilities unlike anything we have seen thus far. That being said, some patches are DIFFICULT to get through, especially watching our heroes replay the same traumas over and over again. I understand the representation argument, but Kaladin and Shallan's traumas are becoming tough to sit through after like 100 hours of listening.
However, you're going to cry for Adolin, Nevani, and Venli, hoo-baby. If you haven't read the first three, exit immediately and download The Way of Kings.

Right up there with the Seven Habits, Carnegie, and other like-minded books. An instant classic that will change your life for the better. I challenge you not to live a more mindful and intentional life after finishing this read. I will reread this one often.
