Historia
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity and impartiality are the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the orderly and efficient flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct.

Historia
On the right side of the law. Sort of. Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer. He works out of a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, fine leather chairs, a hidden gun compartment, and a heavily armed driver. He has no firm, no partners, no associates, and only one employee: his driver, who's also his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and golf caddy.

Not your usual John Grisham
Revisado: 03-21-16
The best thing about this audiobook is Mark Deakins' masterful narration. Brilliant!
As usual, this book is crammed with intriguing and astounding legal manouvres. But it's not like any other Grisham novel I've read. It's more like a collection of short stories.I enjoyed the book, but it's nwhere near Grisham's best.

Historia
Four people in a car, hoping to make Chicago by morning. One man driving, eyes on the road. Another man next to him, telling stories that don’t add up. A woman in the back, silent and worried. And next to her, a huge man with a broken nose, hitching a ride east to Virginia.

As Lee Child lost the plot
Revisado: 03-21-16
This book would probably seem pretty good it it was from some unheard-of author. But, like most of Lee Child's recent books, I think it's unworthy of the author - and the fabulous character he created.
And why he (or Audible) gave up on Jeff Harding - who WAS Jack Reacher - I can't imagine!
Disappointing in every respect. (No, not 'hopeless'. Just 'disappointing'.)

Historia
“Why is this town called Mother’s Rest?” That’s all Reacher wants to know. But no one will tell him. It’s a tiny place hidden in a thousand square miles of wheat fields, with a railroad stop, and sullen and watchful people, and a worried woman named Michelle Chang, who mistakes him for someone else: her missing partner in a private investigation she thinks must have started small and then turned lethal.

The star ratings for this book hard to believe!
Revisado: 03-10-16
For many years Lee Child has been my very favorite author.
Not any more. I've found his last three or four books really disappointing.

Historia
Forced out of the Los Angeles Times amid the latest budget cuts, newspaperman Jack McEvoy decides to go out with a bang, using his final days at the paper to write the definitive murder story of his career. He focuses on Alonzo Winslow, a 16-year-old drug dealer in jail after confessing to a brutal murder. But as he delves into the story, Jack realizes that Winslow's so-called confession is bogus. The kid might actually be innocent.

Historia
When we last saw Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch, they had just put things to right in the rough-and-tumble Old West town of Resolution. It's now a year later, and Virgil has only one thing on his mind: Allie French, the woman who stole his heart from their days in Appaloosa. Even though Allie ran off with another man, Virgil is determined to find her, his deputy and partner Everett Hitch at his side.

Why is this book not retunable?
Revisado: 10-25-15
I listened for about 3 hours and nothing had happened so I gave up. If any book should be returnable it should be this one.
I was influenced by the book and author's star ratings on Audible. I'm now hoping they can't be purchased, like 'likes' and other online ratings!
I'm a fan of westerns so I thought I was looking forward to this book.
If the star ratings are to be believed, I'm in the minority.

Historia
Across the country women are being murdered by a killer who leaves no evidence, no fatal wounds, no signs of struggle, and no clues to a motive. They are, truly, perfect crimes. In fact, the only thing that links the victims is the man they all knew: Jack Reacher.

Nothing like Lee Child's best
Revisado: 10-25-15
Jonathan McClain is no Jeff Harding! Why change narrators after all this time?
The story is very slow to get started with a lot of irrelevant 'filler' for the first few hours.
Is the rumour true that Lee Child is putting his name to stories by ghost writers?
Could he have sold out his loyal readers?

Historia
Four years ago, LAPD detective Harry Bosch was on a movie set, asking questions about the murder of a young production assistant, when an armored car arrived with $2 million cash for use in a heist scene. In a life-imitates-art firestorm, a gang of masked men converged on the delivery and robbed the armored car with guns blazing. The crime was never resolved, and the young woman's murder was in the stack of unsolved-case files Bosch carried home the night he left the LAPD.

You'll be so glad that Harry comes out of retirement for this clever freelance investigation, nailing a bunch of bad guys, despite interference and obstruction from his old cop colleagues and the FBI.

Is Roberts the world's best wordsmith?
Revisado: 02-25-15
Gregory Roberts is an awesome writer. The first half of Shantaram is the best thing I have ever read - and the best performed (by Humphrey Bower).
Everybody should read this stunning book. Despite the second half dragging considerably (what a shame his editor didn't save him from his over-indulgence) it's one of the best books you'll ever read (or listen to), possibly the most unforgettable and almost certainly the most magnificently wordsmithed.
Even if you've read the book, Humphrey's performance will bring the characters alive and give them new form and depth and meaning.

Historia
Mickey Haller gets the text, "Call me ASAP - 187," and the California penal code for murder immediately gets his attention. Murder cases have the highest stakes and the biggest paydays, and they always mean Haller has to be at the top of his game. When Mickey learns that the victim was his own former client, a prostitute he thought he had rescued and put on the straight and narrow path, he knows he is on the hook for this one. He soon finds out that she was back in LA and back in the life. Far from saving her, Mickey may have been the one who put her in danger.

Revisado: 11-18-14
Connelly is a masterful writer whose awesome skills have never been more effectively applied than in this engaging story of the dangerous fight to set an (almost) innocent man free.
Having produced thousands of voice-overs, I'd have to rate Peter Giles up there with Humphrey Bower as one of the best narrators (actors) I've ever heard.
