Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book is something I would recommend to anyone who works with the elderly or who loves animals. It is not family friendly, as I was lead to believe. And even though I was ready to give it up haf way through due to how depressing it is, I am glad I stuck through it.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
For the first half of the book it is extremely depressing. If anything, I would have just changed the younger Jacob's voice. It was very depressing and grating.
Which scene was your favorite?
All the scenes with the elderly man were enjoyable. The detail, and his description of life in the nursing home. My favourite scene was probably the last one in the book.
Who was the most memorable character of Water for Elephants and why?
The older Jacob.
Any additional comments?
Such a variety of characters and colour. A story that keeps you guessing until the end.

Something very weird is happening to Dawn and Rory, and it's not just their new step-family. Slurping slobberers want to suck their bones out. Strange steel sheep want to smash them to pieces. Giant frogs want to crunch them up. Cruel killer creepers want to squeeze the life out of them. Their parents can't help them. Dawn and Rory are on their own. It's wild. It's wacky. It's Wicked!
