A few months ago, I downloaded this book to read, but time got away from me and it got a bit lost in the shuffle of my Kindle tbr list. I never did forget about it though, and when I found out the audio was coming and it was going to be narrated by Elena Wolfe and Sebastian York it was an easy way to move it back to the list.

Aside from some recs of this and seeing the tropes posted on some teasers, I went in pretty blind. I'm not usually into Great Gatsby retelling, but I was hooked from the very beginning. Immersed in the culture and familial expectations for the fmc, Piya, we see how she just doesn't fit in with the world they want her to live. She meets Axel and they have one night where both their lives change and Piya leaves returning to her own. Fast forward 14 years and Axel is back and looks to claim the woman that got away not caring she's moved on and has a family of her own.

This book is dark, has stalking, manipulation, and many other things that could be possible triggers, so be sure to check the list. The story has time jumps between past and present. Some of my favorite parts are more in discussing how Piya believes she's undoing the things that were put on her unfairly in her culture and by doing so is she really doing what she intended for her own daughter. The dynamics are fascinating and I'm still left thinking about them.

Highly recommend this book whether you choose to read it or listen. I'm intending to order a copy for my shelf and I've already pre-ordered the next book.

This book was on my TBR list since it came out, but it was a matter of finding the right time. When I found out that it was going to be done in audio and the narrators were out was a no brainer to save this for listening instead.

Performed in duet narration, Ariel Anderson's debut novel, is a tragic dark romance that will leave the listener running the gamut of all the emotions. Lee Daniels takes us with Elena as she is a young woman trying to become a lawyer in one of the most dangerous places. A chance encounter changes the trajectory of her life like so often in these books, but this is not your normal story. Joe Arden is at home going dark and exploring places that are gritty and moving. As a a listener to audio for years, I've spent time considering if there's any others right now that could have delivered a performance for this book like what's been created, and there's no one. Daniels and Arden have brought Anderson's book to life. It's as if you're listening to a movie and once it's over, you're left feeling it for days. Easily the best audiobook I've listened to this year, and top 5 ever.

As a book lover first and foremost, I can't wait to see what Ariel Anderson has coming next. As a listener, I'm excited to continue to strongly recommend this one to friends. I've already gifted several copies since I've listened because I need them to experience it.

Perfect ending to the Rina-verse

When the last name King shows up in the Rina-verse, rest assured you will not be left disappointed. From the family bloodline that gave us Jonathan and Aiden, we fulfill the promise that Aiden made to Cole that they would be in-laws and Eli would marry his Ava. Little did we imagine how Rina would tie so much together from the generations using the histories and grudges of the past, friendships past and present, and new found relationships that were created through the Legacy of the Gods series to culminate into this strong end with a couple that was so hard fought to find their HEA. An interconnected standalone that at the very least best understood if you start with God of Malice and read/listen to the series, but so much richer by at least reading the elites series with Aiden and Elsa and then Cole and Silver's book. Shane and Zara give an amazing performance as always. Cannot wait until Rina shows us what she has up for us next.

It's finally time for us to get to know about the youngest Cove brother, and Dax Cove does not disappoint. A phone call from a one night stand telling him she just delivered their baby in the states rocks his world. This controlled researcher only knows that he can't leave his child with someone else. Grabbing a couple brothers they head to pick up his new daughter and bring her back home. Believing nothing will change for him, but ensuring Guinevere has a home, is cared for, and an education, all this will be as hands off as possible.

Enter Eira looking for a full time nanny position that affords her an income to take care of both her sister and brother after an uncle stole the inheritance they were to receive after their emotionally distant parents died in a helicopter crash. Eira became the loving parent to them both all the while sacrificing her entire self wants, needs, and desires.

After not getting the job and taking a temporary fill in nanny position, Eira finds a woman having a health crisis at a park while with her charge. Lo and behold, it's the nanny Dax hired instead. He sees the error of his choice, and hires Eira after how well she handled the park incident.

Now what nanny is not going to be attracted to a single dad that's trying to navigate being a father that he never planned on being? And what single dad is not going to be drawn to the one woman that sees him for who he is and helps him bond with this unexpected baby girl? Sexual tension, both feeling set in where they are in life, and trying to find out who they are both apart and together. Eira helps Dax to realize he can still be all those things he has wanted to be career-wise, while Dax wants to give Eira everything that she refuses to take for herself. Some push and pull as they figure out how to have it all together.

We get some great Cove family scenes. We find out where our fave couples are in their lives since we last left them in previous books. Some are a bit raw from life but the family is strong and continues to grow. It's very real for some couples.

Leaving the Coves is sad, because we've been with them for so long now through the series, but they won't be gone. Eira's sister is headed to the States and there's no doubt we'll hear about them again soon.

Narrators Shane East and Zara Hampton -Brown deliver as they always do. Perfect narration.

Fourth Wing performed like the old radio shows before television. Soooo good. I've read and listened to the book before this and the dramatized performances add so much. Perfect for your reader/listener that would be daunted by taking on fantasy. Fantasy is not my genre of choice. The world building is just beyond what I'm typically interested in focusing on, but the graphic audio versions are perfect. They give a live action performance that feels real and true to the story. So happy to see more of these beginning popular and it gives a great foundation for someone to build upon should they decide to read the book in it's entirety. Excellent casting, great pacing, and nothing important was left out in part 1. Excited to start part 2.

Rina Kent Vanilla isn't that kind of vanilla

When Rina Kent writes about a character that loves all things vanilla, the characters are anything but vanilla. I've been working my way through the Rina-verse the past few weeks and am passing through these now. Age gap, father's best friend. Gwyneth has been infatuated with her dad's best friend, Nate, for years and even dared to kiss him on her 18th birthday. Fast forward a couple years for dad to be in a horrible wreck and in a coma. I'm order to protect his familial assets and business, Gwyneth marries Nate for a paper marriage so Nate can protect the firm and his best friend's interests. Of course, in Rina fashion, there's always more to the story. lots more and it's always hot. Gwenyth may love baking vanilla cupcakes, but she proves vanilla is also spicy when Nate is around.

First of all, as a listener well versed in listening to Joe Arden, the answer to Rockstar Joe Arden is an easy and eager yes, please and thank you. He nails his performance as Wes, a former original band member and best friend, looking to navigate his life. He and Hannah deal with mental illness, emotional struggles, feelings of inadequacies all while lifting the other up. While this book is all in Joe Arden's voice, he gives Hannah a voice just as real. This is part of a series. but can be listened or read as a standalone. I'm excited to read and listen to more from Aly Stiles.

This book is my new favorite listen. An all-star cast. A great continuation of the Agitator series, but can be a standalone listen. There's great character development, super hot steamy scenes, great emotional depth that left this cold soulless reader/listener reaching for tissues. It's so so good that I'm read to go back in again.

Can't go wrong with any of Bay's books. Great main characters with swoon worthy romance. Andi Arndt and Shane East deliver as Vivian and Beau. A great addition to The Doctor series and it's fun getting back in with the Cove family. can't wait for the next one.
