the book gave a good introduction but patent law and handling IP could easily be a 80 hour book series… probably could have more content about just IP and now use the end of the book for how to get a good grade and don’t use drugs… really I’ll never be a lawyer but just need to have a bigger working knowledge of IP

Great story enriching side series!!

All in all I have to saw I love the foundation that was laid about magic and ancient families! Different world to consider!!
A birds eye into the life and training before magic talent arose is amazing.
I smell a third series in addition to Shadow and Hawk about how Penny was raised and seeing that tied into how she went to school and recruited. I’m wondering if we won’t actually get to the forgotten until like 2026🤣
I’m not complaining! I love what’s going on in the side series, it just enriches the main series!

So much happened and it was great to get some narrative on previously discussed large events that were referenced many times! But wow.. curveball about the sensorate and the forsaken ... now I know why profesying was illegal in the old days!

Short but good

It doesn’t have fluff to stretch it to an 18 hour audiobook but man was it good! There was so much action and you got the full book experience of climax unexpected outcome and surprise ending! Scalzi outdid hisself! A fine piece of writing

Hard Audiobook to read

I’ve got over 200 audiobooks and this is one of 3 that I never finished... until now, years later. The story and narration was so bland and hard to get into via the audio format. So, I borrowed a paper copy from a friend after he praised it (and reviews were good) and followed along the audio reading with reading the pages.. and finally the book took on a clarity that was lacking with only audio.. some of the concepts of the book just came out cleaner with visual aid of the words... so enough of that; Excellent book, great world... some vagueness and a rushed ending it seemed a whole additional book could be written of equal length to summarize the outcome of the convex and ————- of Saint Orolo. Maybe 700 years later ;-).
-Good like writing a sequel Neal!!

Better than expected

Seems as if Expeditionary Force just went main stream as Star Wars and Star Trek! Unexpected amazing performance! I will miss the 12+ hour long books; and the mental visualization my own brain came up with; Hopefully they will switch between production and regular book!!
