Matt Higgins’ book starts as a collection of other’s stories analyzed through Matt’s prism and tied to his personal trials and triumphs. This rhythm is weaved throughout this inspiring and helpful book, but shifts as the book moves to the closing chapters and Higgins’ authoritative, inspirational and analytical voice becomes louder as he ties together the book into a motivational and instructional read.

As the reader gets to know Higgins, we find that this once-failed student is now an adjunct faculty member at the Harvard Buisness School (among plenty of other noteworthy roles). This knowledge helps to explain why the book is so well organized for learning - it is structured with textbook value, but doesn’t lose its entertaining quality - just as well planned lecture course is prepared and delivered by a great professor.

As is aptly titled, Burn the Boats makes a compelling case to not linger on developing back-up plans, but to focus fearlessly on implementing your plan. As I started the book there was a was a voice of doubt gnawing at me, “How can you be so reckless as to not have a fall-back, a contingency?” With each chapter that voice lost volume and was replaced with the booming of confidence. As he says - if you are worried that you won't succeed, you have already failed!

The book is a must read for entrepreneurs, but is also very valuable to anyone facing the challenges of life. I am buying copies for my family and friends who are graduating.

Writing, having just finished this extraordinary written tome would make anyone nervous. The story of Churchill’s remarkable life made me wildly disappointed in my relatively boring and insignificant existence. He arguably was the most impactful human to live during the 20th century.

Roberts’, often judgmental look at this life was neither too critical nor overly complementary. He tells the stories of Churchill’s triumphs and failures with exhaustive detail and frankly does
an admirable job of introducing the various others in WSC’s life.

Having enjoyed the book on Audible the narration is critical. Stephen Thorne nailed it with the his reading. To effectively quote WSC’s enormous vocabulary with the tongue and cadence requires an exceptional talent - clearly one possessed by Thorne.

Love it. Would happily recommend it to anyone with a 50+ hours on their hands, a love for
biographies and an appreciation for the
world construct of the last 70 years (until 2016)

Fr Martin does an excellent job in his written and spoken text to help guide us through meditating on Jesus's last words. This will become an annual listing during Lent.
