Historia
The Kennedy name has long been synonymous with wealth, power, glamor, and—above all else—integrity. But this carefully constructed veneer hides a dark truth: the pattern of Kennedy men physically and psychologically abusing women and girls, leaving a trail of ruin and death in each generation’s wake. Through decades of scandal after scandal—from sexual assaults to reputational slander, suicides to manslaughter—the family and their defenders have kept the Kennedy brand intact.

Privilege, immunity and bad behavior of a dynasty: not a curse.
Revisado: 09-07-24
I thought I couldn’t be shocked any more by the endless stories and scandals of the Kennedy Dynasty that I’ve read about over my almost 8 decades on the planet. But the author here has compiled them all (at least that are publicly known) and drilled down in depth to provide the reader with an even broader picture of the family’s unceasing scandals, from womanizing, rape and other behavior demeaning women, to negligent homicide and outright murder…of women. It’s even updated to include RFK, Jr., just the latest Kennedy with Presidential ambitions.

Historia
The Ku Klux Klan, which celebrated historian Fergus Bordewich defines as “the first organized terrorist movement in American history,” rose from the ashes of the Civil War. At its peak in the early 1870s, the Klan boasted many tens of thousands of members, no small number of them landowners, lawmen, doctors, journalists, and churchmen, as well as future governors and congressmen. And their mission was to obliterate the muscular democratic power of newly emancipated Black Americans and their white allies, often by the most horrifying means imaginable.

Full Credit To U.S. Grant For Taking On The KKK
Revisado: 09-02-24
For anyone who has any doubt about who was actually responsible for the failure of Reconstruction, the deaths and injuries of thousands of former slaves and their families as well as many so-called “Radical Republicans” sypathetic to the post war plight of the former slaves, this will address your doubts. Further, it gives full credit to U. S. Grant for first taking steps to stop the slaughter of innocents in the post war South. Unfortunately, several Presidents before Grant (Johnson) and after Grant’s Presidency failed to follow through with his actions. In many ways this is the history of the early Civil Rights movement in American… an unfortunate saga that is still misunderstood today.

Historia
In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson selected his personal secretary, Captain Meriwether Lewis, to lead a voyage up the Missouri River, across the forbidding Rockies, and - by way of the Snake and the Columbia rivers - down to the Pacific Ocean. Lewis and his partner, Captain William Clark, endured incredible hardships and witnessed astounding sights. With great perseverance, they worked their way into an unexplored West. When they returned two years later, they had long since been given up for dead.

Unequalled Courage and Dedication to Mission, but in the end, only Human
Revisado: 07-07-24
The story of the Lewis and Clark expedition is a major piece of American History and should not be forgotten. This version is purely factual and is based on the daily diaries and later publications of several men in the expedition as well as the products of several researchers and biographers over the years. The smooth flowing and detailed narrative put this reader into the expedition in the early 1800’s as they were attacked by starvation, snow storms, hostile tribes of Native Americans, and never-before seen animals… Grizzly Bears. Through all this, they pushed on to complete the mission they were dedicated to. Truly world-class explorers, but they were all changed by the experience and their celebrity when they came back to civilization.

Historia
People say Beartown is finished. A tiny community nestled deep in the forest, it is slowly losing ground to the ever encroaching trees. But down by the lake stands an old ice rink, built generations ago by the working men who founded this town. And in that ice rink is the reason people in Beartown believe tomorrow will be better than today. Their junior ice hockey team is about to compete in the national semifinals, and they actually have a shot at winning.

She also narrated Mad Honey so this book was at a disadvantage out of the gate for me. I don’t know if it’s a mix between California girl or valley girl of some mix but she ruined it for me. It also had the obligatory little liberal side line which I resent. Guess I’m just old-fashioned.

Historia
Senator Frank Church of Idaho was an unlikely hero. He led congressional opposition to the Vietnam War and had become a scathing, radical critic of what he saw as American imperialism around the world. But he was still politically ambitious, privately yearning for acceptance from the foreign policy establishment that he hated and eager to run for president. Despite his flaws, Church would show historic strength in his greatest moment, when in the wake of Watergate he was suddenly tasked with investigating abuses of power in the intelligence community.

A Great Man Gets His Due Credit
Revisado: 07-18-23
Frank Church, as the author says, was a man largely known for “The Church Committee” but accomplished so much more. This book gives him the credit he deserves for a lifetime of service to the Nation and to his constituents. The book leads one to believe that we could probably use another Church Committee right now, and perhaps every decade to ensure the American People retain some level of control and transparency in Federal Government.

Historia
In his best-selling autobiography, Albert Speer, Minister of Armaments and chief architect of Nazi Germany, repeatedly insisted he knew nothing of the genocidal crimes of Hitler's Third Reich. In this revealing new biography, author Martin Kitchen disputes Speer's lifelong assertions of ignorance and innocence, portraying a far darker figure who was deeply implicated in the appalling crimes committed by the regime he served so well. Kitchen reconstructs Speer's life with what we now know, including information from valuable new sources that have come to light only in recent years.

Well researched, but….
Revisado: 06-15-23
You should probably read Speer’s Memoirs before listening to this book, so that a lot of what Martin Kitchen calls fabrications and lies will make more sense. You might also want to watch the 1981 movie, The Bunker, before reading this book, as well, since it appears to have been scripted by Albert Speer, himself. Makes him a real hero. Albert Speer was a slick dude, who got away with murder and talked his way out of being hanged. A true genius, but Kitchen doesnt let him get away with anything. Narrator is obviously and thankfully fluent in German, but didnt impress me with the overdone pronunciation. It did bother me that a good deal of the book is about pre-war European Architecture, which just takes up space. By the end of the book, I was saying “OK, OK, enough. You proved Speer was a liar and deserved to be hanged.

Mark Lane tried the only US court case in which the jurors concluded that the CIA plotted the murder of President Kennedy, but there was always a missing piece: How did the CIA control cops and secret service agents on the ground in Dealey Plaza? How did federal authorities prevent the House Select Committee on Assassinations from discovering the truth about the complicity of the CIA? Now, Mark Lane tells all in this explosive new book.

If you’re a JFK conspiracy junky, this book will fit nicely into many if not most of the other books, videos, films, interviews and lectures that are currently available by Mark lane and dozens of others. If you’re just curious and want to see what it’s all about, Lane’s book will be a good way to put your foot into the pool. Warning, it might start an addiction. This is the greatest murder mystery of our time or any other.

Revisado: 05-28-23
If you were born after WWII or even in the decade before that, this book will bring back a flood if memories from your childhood and young adulthood. But equally important, it could very well reveal what your parents and grandparents experienced in the years leading up to WWII, including the Great Depression, and why they were the kind of parents they were. Particularly if you’re into American History, Politics, and Culture, the hundreds of names mentioned in the book will have significance, perhaps more than when they were in the headlines. Brilliantly researched and narrated, one will have to forgive the narrator for a few mispronounciations here and there for names of people and places which were well known to those of us who lived through these “interesting times.”

Olivia McAfee knows what it feels like to start over. Her picture-perfect life—living in Boston, married to a brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon, raising their beautiful son, Asher—was upended when her husband revealed a darker side. She never imagined that she would end up back in her sleepy New Hampshire hometown, living in the house she grew up in and taking over her father’s beekeeping business. Lily Campanello is familiar with do-overs, too. When she and her mom relocate to Adams, New Hampshire, for her final year of high school, they both hope it will be a fresh start.
