Historia
Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

Broad width and depth in a number of different areas can make you more successful than just one specialization. Great book and ties in with others I am reading. Good arguments on why to be wider and deeper than just deeper.

Historia
Based on a far-reaching study of thousands of individuals, Finding Flow contends that we often walk through our days unaware of and out of touch with our emotional lives. Our inattention makes us constantly bounce between two extremes: During much of the day, we live filled with the anxiety and pressures of our work and obligations, and during our leisure moments, we tend to live in passive boredom.

The book was fine just not what i was looking for. It seemed to ramble a bit and was not as good as his other works I have listened to. The narrator is really.

intriguing story that allowed escape during this pandemic keeping me at home. It is a straightforward story with an easy to follow scenario. I personally liked the characters and their development. The reader made the audible story so enjoyable. I will definitely listen to more of his work and I will check out more of Tigner's work.

Historia
Would you like to walk into a room full of people and remember everyone’s name? Is it your dream to meet a new client and blow them away with your expertise in your field? We all have a tricky time remembering things sometimes, but with a lack of sleep, too many obligations, and stress compounding, it can be hard to remember where your car keys are. The problem isn’t you getting older, life getting more complicated, or your memory. The problem is with the "Filing System" your brain currently uses to store and remember anything.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 03-04-20
if Siri were to read this book I could have handled it more than having to listen to this guy. Any attempt to garner information from the author was quickly squelched by Mr. Hendrickson's monotone delivery. He literally just read each word with no comprehension of what or how he was saying it, putting pauses in where none were called for and strange inflections that were so distracting I turned it off after Chapter 2. Will never listen to another of his "readings."

Sissy Spacek's twang adds some authenticity. Great character development. As my son says, Atticus is the man. Great story that is appropriate even in today's world. Somehow I never read this in high school and really missed out.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

The Dutch House is Spectacular
Revisado: 10-17-19
This book was surprisingly good. Not meant as a negative cooment at all. What was surprising was how much I enjoyed it. This is not the typical book I would read or listen to but I didn't want the story to end. The author is remarkable in her character development and I could see my family clearly in some of the characters. Beautifully written and masterfully narrated by Tom Hanks, I will probably listen to it again. Highly recommend it especially to those of you who are on the fence. Well worth the time.

Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

excellent book discussing where we came from as a species and where we are headed. The flow of the book is phenomenal providing a socio-archaeological timeline I have never experienced before. There is so much information in here i am going to listen to it again. Great book. Easy listen. Highly recommend.

scary what the bureacrats entrnched in the government can do and the limited powers Congress has. The stories told here are so ridiculous that my blood was boiling. If these can happen to a US Congressman, how do the rest of us have a chance. A truly eye-opening book that makes you question what really happens in these government agencies. Thanks to the author for getting this out there.
