A very slow beginning and poor recording
Revisado: 12-19-24
I hope this is the slow base that needed to be created for the future novels, and the rest are a bit faster pace
I will say that even when the audio is turned all of the way up it is difficult to hear if outside noise is loud (bad traffic, airport conversations, etc.) and I found that frustrating. I think someone needs to remaster the audio recording to make a clearer, stronger version. This was the first koontz book I have listened to with this problem.

Narrator Whispers for Joyce’s Voice…Difficult to Hear
Revisado: 10-21-24
I realized that it was a new narrator for this series and she did well for the majority of characters but when she was voicing Joyce (who has quite a large part with her diary entries) the narrator whispers making it very difficult to hear on the train, or even in the car. It is very frustrating and I can’t believe that the publisher didn’t have a quality assurance team to check the sound before it was released.
I actually ended up buying the ebook version to finish the story. I won’t get the next audiobook in the series.

Not the best in the series but enjoyable
Revisado: 08-18-24
This entry in the long running series was a bit off the mark for me. There was a lot of time spent getting to know the characters and when the murder finally happens (past the halfway point in the book) it seems to be solved very quickly.
The narrator is once again amazing and brings life to the characters.

Very wordy without saying much
Revisado: 03-10-24
Every few books Dean Koontz puts out a book that seems to be more about the flowery language that can be used than telling an actual story. This is one of those books…where there are more adjectives than action scenes.
I listened for a couple of hours and was so frustrated with the slow pace I just stopped and jumped to the last chapter (something that I never do).
This book is a hard pass, not his best and sadly one of his worst.

Wonderful narration and complex murders make this Agatha Christie’s best book. I cannot compliment the narrator enough for the number of characters he creates so wonderfully.

Historia
Finn is smart, adorkable, and his shyness pushes all my buttons. The problem? My interest in him quickly shifts from friendship to something less than platonic. Feelings I’ve been pushing down for years bubble up to the surface, and I find myself unable to see him as just a friend or keep my hands to myself. When a night out leads to some extracurricular fun, Finn and I decide to have a no-strings-attached fling. He’s the perfect person to explore my bisexuality with, and our chemistry is off the charts.

Historia
For Landon Stackhouse, being called up from the Calgary farm team is exciting and terrifying, even if, as the backup goalie, he rarely leaves the bench. A quiet loner by nature, Landon knows he gives off strong “don’t talk to me” vibes. The only player who doesn’t seem to notice is Calgary’s superstar young winger, Casey Hicks. Casey treats Landon like an old friend, even though they’ve only interacted briefly in the past. He’s endlessly charming and completely laid-back in a way that Landon absolutely can’t relate to.

Wanted to Love it …..
Revisado: 10-03-23
I loved all of the author’s previous books but this one just didn’t make the cut. I didn’t believe the characters or their issues. It was like they were 16 and not 26. It was also long and tended to ramble on. Cooper North was an amazing narrator (as he was on her other books).

Historia
Waking up in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head is bad. Finding out I have amnesia is far worse. My memory is practically wiped. I don't know why someone wants me dead. Hell, I don't even know my name. They say my name is Christian Cross. Too bad that name means nothing to me. I haven't forgotten everything, though. Grayson Laurie has always been my kryptonite, and it would take more than a bullet to the brain to forget him. He assures me that I'm imagining the distance between us, but I know better. I just don't know how to fix it.

The worst narrator I have ever listened to
Revisado: 11-09-22
Let me start by saying I am usually a huge fan of SE Harmon’s books. The writing has sass and sarcasm and makes me laugh even during tense moments. But this narrator was so dull and un-energetic that every line just laid there … the monotone delivery was annoying and the other characters were similar in voices. What a huge disappointment. I will read the next book on kindle instead of listening to it, but SE please don’t use this narrator again.

A good story … just needs better recording equip
Revisado: 06-29-22
This was the start of a good series. The characters were well developed and strong and the story was well told, well plotted and enjoyable with all of the expected moments of love and angst.
That being said I hope the next one has a better audio studio and recording equipment … there were times when it sounded like the narrator - who did a great job - was recording on a cell phone.
I will get the next book in the series.
