Historia
When Amelia is invited to an all-expenses-paid retreat on a private island, the mysterious offer is too good to refuse. Along with six other strangers, she’s told they’re here to test a brand-new product for Timeo Technologies. But the guests’ excitement soon turns to terror when the real reason for their summons becomes clear. Each guest has a guilty secret. And when they’re all forced to wear a memory-tracking device that reveals their dark and shameful deeds to their fellow guests, there’s no hiding from the past. This is no luxury retreat - it’s a trap.

Nope Just Nope
Revisado: 04-21-25
It was hard to concentrate on the story line
With all the mispronounced words. I’m sure the narrator is a very nice person and I hate to say this, but there were so many mispronounced words at first I started to keep track and then I gave up. Plus the story was just so so. It did not keep me on the edge of my seat. It did not keep me listening. It just had me speeding up the pace of the story.

The Misremembered Man is a beautifully rendered portrait of life in rural Ireland which charms and delights with its authentic characters and gentle humor. This vivid portrayal of the universal search for love brings with it a darker tale, heartbreaking in its poignancy.

Funny I bought this on Audible many years ago before I kept track of what I listen to.
As I listened I realized it was familiar and I must have listened to it before. But it’s a good story and so I listen to it again. I even enjoyed it the second time.

Historia
Alice Pendelbury believes everything in her life is pretty much in order - from her good friends to her burgeoning career. But even Alice has to admit it’s been an odd week. Not only has her belligerent neighbor, Mr. Daldry, suddenly become a surprisingly agreeable confidant, but he’s encouraging her to take seriously the fortune-teller who told her that only by traveling to Turkey can Alice meet the most important person in her life. What’s more, the peculiarly insistent Mr. Daldry has even agreed to finance Alice’s trip - one that against all reason seems to be predestined.

The smells.. of my childhood
Revisado: 01-13-25
There was so much to like! The descriptions of the smells and the descriptions of the intersections.
I loved the narrator but occasionally I would be confused who was speaking since she really didn’t change her voice. She had a clear beautiful English accent but wish on some she could have changed her voice more.
The ending was not my favorite part .. so no spoilers.
But overall yes I highly recommend this book.

Title has double meaning.. cute
Revisado: 01-05-25
The story was alright.. really not usually my style. The most interesting thing that has never ever happened to me in all these years of listening to Audible and audiobooks is that I had to slow it down! Yes the narrator talks with a lovely accent but speaks so quickly.. I had to slow it down to 95..
I usually speed them up but if you want to really get the story.. it needed slowing down a bit.
And is there anyone else that finds it tricky with the going back and forth with dates?

Historia
In the Nihonbashi district of Tokyo an unusual statue of a Japanese mythic beast—a kirin—stands guard over the district from the classic Nihonbashi bridge. In the evening, a man who appears to be very drunk staggers onto the bridge and collapses right under the statue of the winged beast. The patrolman who sees this scene unfold, goes to rouse the man, only to discover that the man was not passed out, he was dead; that he was not drunk, he was stabbed in the chest.

Great story
Revisado: 06-13-24
I really enjoy this series. This and the other books have very interesting stories that I have not been able to solve. My only side note would be that since it is a Japanese book and translated to English the narrator ends most of his sentences with an up note .. like a question. And of course the names are impossible to keep straight since most are very similar but the author does a good job with the story so you can figure out who is who.

I enjoyed my stay at the Bird Hotel
Revisado: 04-26-24
4.5 For me the first half of the book was a 6 star read!!! I enjoyed every bit. As the second half progressed there were instances where I wondered how did that happen or how did they find them in another country? I guess if the writer had explained every situation in detail and how they came about the book would have floundered in details.
This is a story you just go along with and let it unfold just like a vacation. Also the good and the bad of even paradise.

A Fun Story
Revisado: 04-04-24
There are many things I liked in this book.. being brave, overcoming fears and not giving up. I listened to this on Audible and the narrator did a very good job with all the voices. This book would be good for ages 10 and up if they had left a few words and things out. That is what I didn’t understand.. to me I wasn’t sure what audience the author was going for. A whimsical fun story.

Historia
In 1972, when workers in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, were digging the foundations for a new development, the last thing they expected to find was a skeleton at the bottom of a well. Who the skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. Chicken Hill was where Moshe and Chona Ludlow lived when Moshe integrated his theater and where Chona ran the Heaven & Earth Grocery Store.

A very intriguing story
Revisado: 03-19-24
I have mixed feelings on this book. I listened to it on Audible and it was very well done. The narrator did a super job. There were so many characters and at first, it was hard to keep track. Then you learn which ones you really need to pay attention to and which ones you may come and go in aren’t that important. The physical abuse parts were very hard to listen to. So definitely there are some trigger warnings with this book. It was very well written.
