Historia
Hans Castorp is, on the face of it, an ordinary man in his early 20s, on course to start a career in ship engineering in his home town of Hamburg, when he decides to travel to the Berghof Santatorium in Davos. The year is 1912 and an oblivious world is on the brink of war. Castorp’s friend Joachim Ziemssen is taking the cure and a three-week visit seems a perfect break before work begins. But when Castorp arrives he is surprised to find an established community of patients, and little by little, he gets drawn into the closeted life and the individual personalities of the residents.

tedious
Revisado: 04-25-22
This is a classic, but I found it to be extremely tedious. I finished it but only because I kept thinking it would get better, it did not.

Historia
Samantha is a professional seductress and con artist with a heart of gold. If she talked about her work, she’d tell you she only pilfers organs for medical research and that she only takes one kidney, and she only steals those kidneys from dishonest people. It’s hell on her social life. Abe is the doctor and Sam's partner in crime. He isn’t much of a criminal. Except for the kidney stealing. But he’s using that money to fund his research that he anticipates will be able to cure diabetes. So, all for a good cause...? You decide. Of course, it's hell on his social life.

Don't bother with this one
Revisado: 03-02-20
This is one of the worst books i have ever listened to. The performance was hard to follow, the story line was ridiculous.

excellent
Revisado: 06-26-18
This is a great book, it is so important to tell people about autism and the wide range of disability and needs those with autism have. It also reminds us of the amazing contribution they make to those around them. It should remind each of us to be less judgmental of those who are different than we are. thank you for sharing your story

Historia
In this book, author and biologist Marcy Houle shares her personal journey of caring for her father, a surgeon, who developed Alzheimer's disease, and later her mother, who succumbed to other medical conditions.Like many children of aging parents, Marcy often felt powerless traveling this sad trajectory - watching them fall through the cracks of a fragmented and confusing healthcare system, where professionals often wrote off their symptoms as "just old age".

must read for those with aging parents
Revisado: 06-26-18
If you have aging parents, (with or without dementia) this book provides very useful information and guidance. The story combined with the informational chapters is a great way to explain things. Everyone should read it as their parents/family members are getting older and needing more help. It unfortunately is directed more to people with good financial resources. It would have been very helpful to provide pointers for those with limited resources. It would have been helpful to hear ideas for the aging parents who are difficult to deal with- those that are not aging as pleasantly /suffering more of an aggressive behavior as they decline.
The information on delirium was excellent, more people should be aware of this problem especially in the elderly.

too much foul language
Revisado: 11-21-15
This was an amazing story that shares a families struggle with the father dying of ALS while the mother has cancer with a poor prognosis. Unfortunately it is full of cussing throughout. It expresses the struggles but the story could be well told without all of this and could still portray this families experiences quiet well.
