Historia
First published in Japan in 2003, Dead-End Memories collects the stories of five women who, following sudden and painful events, quietly discover their ways back to recovery. Yoshimoto's gentle, effortless prose reminds us that one true miracle can be as simple as having someone to share a meal with, and that happiness is always within us if only we take a moment to pause and reflect. Discover this collection of what Yoshimoto herself calls the "most precious work of my writing career."

Poor Reading of an Excellent Book
Revisado: 09-23-23
Perhaps it is because this is one of my favorite books, I was appalled at the reading delivered. The stories have a calm and direct style, but the reading sounded almost robotic, as if enunciated by Siri or Alexa.

Historia
From her many well-loved novels, Hilma Wolitzer - now 91 years old and at the top of her game - has gained a reputation as one of our best fiction writers. These collected short stories - most of them originally published in magazines including Esquire and the Saturday Evening Post in the 1960s and 1970s, along with a new story that brings her early characters into the present - are evocative of an era that still resonates deeply today.

Beautiful writing about banality
Revisado: 09-20-21
The writing is witty, but the character is not worth spending time with, living such a self-absorbed and narrow life with so little insight.
