Overdramatizing

The information contained here could be given in about 1/4 of the time but I guess that doesn’t make the book long enough.

Historia
In the darkest days of the American Revolution, Francis Marion and his band of militia freedom fighters kept hope alive for the patriot cause during the critical British southern campaign. Like the Robin Hood of legend, Marion and his men attacked from secret hideaways before melting back into the forest or swamp. Employing insurgent tactics that became commonplace in later centuries, Marion and his brigade inflicted losses on the enemy that were individually small but cumulatively a large drain on British resources and morale.

Historia
This is the true-crime bestseller that was the basis for Martin Scorsese’s film masterpiece GoodFellas, which brought to life the violence, the excess, the families, the wives and girlfriends, the drugs, the payoffs, the paybacks, the jail time, and the Feds... with Henry Hill’s crackling narration drawn straight out of Wiseguy and overseeing all the unforgettable action.
Read it and experience the secret life inside the mob - from one who’s lived it. Now with an introduction by Martin Scorcese.-

If you’ve seen the movie not much new here
Revisado: 12-12-17
There are a few details that the movie producers changed from the book but not enough to buy the book. If you’ve seen the movie you have the story.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

Great Story
Revisado: 11-09-16
Really drives home the reality that all countries are made of different cultures and norms. The stories we are fed in the news are not the only stories out there. This book spans the time of the Russian occupation, when we (Americans) were allies of the Afghans. Then goes through the time when the Taliban took over and we became the enemy of the Afghans. In reality, the Afghans were never our allies or our enemies. They were Afghans, a people struggling to keep the invaders out of their country. Those invaders in modern times were the Russians, the Taliban, and eventually us.
The struggle to survive is spotlighted in this story of a boy becoming a man in difficult times. A man that must face his fears, to save himself first, so that he can save others.
