The title says it all. I bought this one with great expectation (all great reviews), but now, after hours of nail biting boredom I am wondering if the reviews have been put here by the publisher, because they know it's horrible. So be careful and don't get tempted by the intro text.

Honestly.

The story begins pretty good, well, at least exciting enough but really nothing new, but after the first chapter it all goes downhill. Rapidly. Until you wake up and realize that you have fallen asleep after just another boooooring chapter. I can only hope that you don't listen to audiobooks behind the wheel of your car.

Boring, boring, BORING. Trust me. I seldom write reviews and now I realize that I should, because good books need reviews and bad ones need reviews even more. This story could have been action-packed and with a smooth storyline, but it simply isn't. One boring intrigue following the other, people f..ing up big time and loose cannons everywhere. Not even close to plausible. If the people in your real CIA or other Black ops organizations are as dumb as the people in this book, your country is in really big trouble.

With great respect for the narrator, he should not be the one narrating these kind of stories. I'm sure he's excellent in classic works, but not here. Sometimes I wonder if he has a speech impediment (not sure if this is the correct word, sorry I'm Dutch and can't help it) because his sentences come out kind of stuttering or robot-like jumping from word to word. And I am not going to tell you how awful his French accent is. Ok then, it's HILARIOUS.

All in all you should not be wasting your money on this one unless you have read or listened to more of the same and you liked it. Respect to you then. If you do and it's your first Vince Flynn, you'll remember this review with a sour smile. Told you so!

For me this was the first Mitch Rapp book and the first Vince Flynn. Sorry Vince, with all respect, I'll never buy another book from you. I listened to this one right after 30 hours of Stephen King's unabridged 11-22-63. Of course it's a matter of personal taste, but I didn't want that one to end. Ever.

Good luck in choosing right.

I wish I could go back in time... and listen to this book again. Fortunately, I can and there will be no disruption of today's world or unharmonized strings!

Only 30 minutes left on my audiobook and I don't want it to stop.

This story is compelling and a great read by Craig Wasson. Of course, the story could have been told in a much shorter way, but I truly like listening to it. This is no true horror story like sometimes written bij Mr. King, but moreover a sophisticated profile of Jake Epping. A profile that you can relate to.

What would you do if you could go back in time and change the world? And what would you do if the outcome was not what you expected?

I can recommend this one if you're in for long narrative and descriptive stories, with a great storyline that challenges your mind. I'd listen to the narrator for every future book I buy, I like his relaxed and emotional voice very much. Beware for when he speaks German though, it sounds like the old 'Allo 'Allo series, Herr Flick, but even more annoying. Lucky for narrator Craig and us this is just a few minutes in a long, long thrilling ride.

No idea how this book is going to end, it's Stephen King after all, but I'm sure I'll read it many times again when I'm done.

Overall disappointing

Maybe I over-enjoyed the previous Bourne's. Maybe the moon wasn't right. Maybe Scott Sowers' enthusiasm and funny accents finally began to irritate me. Other Bourne editions were thrilling. But this edition disappointed me. Just too much, too many twists, too many narrow escapes. The story wasn't compelling and even turned a bit Steve Berry/Dan Brown-ish with ancient mysteries and treasures. Bad ones, too. Eric van Lustbader, thanks for your effort but my cup is full. Please send out a bulletin and either let the man die or better, let him have his peace, let him marry the girl, make babies and build the house with the white picket fence. It's enough.
