Too much mundane details

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I usually listen to audio books on my long commutes to and from work, and if a book is really good I'll listen at home or at lunch at work. This books is so boring that I've been listening to music every other day instead. The story is unfolding way too slowly, and the book is filled with unnecessary mundane details, like feeding cats in excessive detail for example.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I find this narrator way too dramatic for a book that is mostly mundane.
