Satisfying listen; decent plot, great narrator. I’m looking forward to No. 2 in the series!

And adventure! On top of that, it’s based on a true story. Lovely tale for its target age group of 8-12. Can’t wait to read more from Margi Preus!

The author needs to slow down and pay attention to his stories, plots and writing. RC Bray, love to hear you read a story, but starting to wonder if you are paying attention, either. The story is shallow with a predictable plot and paint-by-number writing. Apparently the graphic descriptions of humans being torn apart is supposed to make up for that. Two stars, five eye-rolls.

Enjoyable; sound effects overdone in places

The story is a great addition to the series and the full-cast production was very well done—it always sounds as if they were all together in the studio and the dialog is natural and perfectly timed. (Too many ensemble productions sound like separate recordings patched together with different interpretations of the text and zero flow).
I’m a fan of sound effects when they work, and these usually work. But sometimes, esp in the beginning, they are an unintelligible muddle, drowning out the dialog and the story. I’m glad I stuck with the book because it does get better.
The actors are perfectly matched to their characters and of course Skippy is magnificently over the top—he even, uh, sings. Opera. Kind of.
Definitely worth a credit, especially for fans of the series.

...of a lovely, gentle man and the lives he touches every day. The production is excellent and the full cast adds to the experience. I was delighted at how much I enjoyed it

...because I’m a fan of Clines and enjoyed the first two books in this series. But he phoned this one in. The characters are two-dimensional, obtuse at the most ridiculous times, and oh-so-annoying (not helped at all by the narrator’s whiny women’s voices and grating, Southern-ish accent for the male lead). Most of the book consists of meaningless, repetitive battle scenes between humans and zombies, with extra emphasis on the gore. The female lead’s emotional big reveal of why she traveled to the moon is just laughable. The ending was interesting, but definitely not worth the trip or the credit.

This is a so-called Audible Original. How did this production pass quality control? Tinny, hissing, uneven narration comes across as mostly garble—make that breathless garble—not helped by the jarring special effects. Couldn’t finish it because I couldn’t understand anything.
I’m starting to think these monthly prime giveaways are just a way to get rid of sub-par audiobooks that won’t sell. I haven’t been impressed with most of the options.

Well-written, well-narrated and satisfying conclusion to the Commune trilogy. I can see the story ending there or continuing—either way is just fine.
I appreciated that the main characters were mostly good people who didn’t go all Jim Jones on their groups.
Would like to have seen more women in positions of real power—sheesh, even one would have been nice.
Also could have done without the men’s dismissive characterizations of the women who traded in sex as basically nasty whores. It would Be so easy to add that measure of respect and enlightenment here as we see in so many areas of the book.
Nonetheless, it’s one of the best post apocalypse sagas I’ve read.

Interesting and original story, but almost ruined by the overacting and countless loud sighs in the narration. Narrator has good pacing, articulation and other qualities. Just be natural (do you talk to your friends like that?) and, forallthatisholy, stop the excessive inhales and exhales.

post-apocalypse series I’ve read—and I’ve read a lot. Human, poignant, action-packed and, finally, hopeful. “Deliverance” is a fine ending to the trilogy, but it could just as well serve as the beginning of another round of adventures (hoping here). As always, RC Bray’s narration is as essential to the story as the plot.
