Beautifully written - hard to follow in audible

Loved this story. I’m always looking for historical fiction based in Italy during the war. There doesn’t seem to be as much written as one would think and people don’t often talk about the world wars effect on Italy and the families who lived there.

I really wanted to like this. I agree with the notion that the western world should not get so involved in other cultures behavioral health care, or atleast not assume we know best in every situation. We have to be more culturally sensitive. Deep rooted cultural beliefs absolutely impact treatment and resiliency. The author repeats the same argument again and again with very little updated knowledge throughout. The language used is also dated and not as sympathetic or compassionate as I think he intends yo be. Overall it’s important to take his points into account but you would understand that simply by reading the first chapter.

I loved this one. I think it was recommended because of my love for The Red Tent by Anita Diamonte which I read nearly 20yrs ago. Solid recommendation.

Love OneWhisker...

One whisker was one of my absolute favorite characters because he was a unifier.His story is so sad to me... And yet believable and realistic. So often good people turn complicated by life circumstances and one poor choice often leads to cascade of others. I enjoyed this story. I just wish it was read by McCleod Andrews. It's hard to listen to dozens ifbools with one narrator and then have to switched. Different voice,different ways of saying phrases we've we've heard hundreds of times, different personalities for cats we know so well... If there's to be a narraratir switch it should be a requirement that they listen to prior books in that series before recording.

Tough to switch narration

One of my favorite story lines and Kathleen’s performance was well done. It’s just tough to listen to voices and character depiction of one narrator for 15 books and then switch to someone with a different style and different take on the characters personality - Characters tone of voice alters more than you’d expect. Nice job though. Great plot.

One of my favorites of the series so far. I love this one. There has been so much darkness and loss in the last few I’ve read. This was a welcome refreshing read after those.
