Historia
Archaeologist Saul Lazenby has been all but unemployable since his disgrace during the War. Now he scrapes a living working for a rich eccentric who believes in magic. Saul knows it's a lot of nonsense except that he begins to find himself in increasingly strange and frightening situations. And at every turn he runs into the sardonic, mysterious Randolph Glyde, the last of an ancient line of arcanists, commanding deep secrets and extraordinary powers as he struggles to fulfill his family duties in a war-torn world. The only question for Randolph is whether Saul is victim or villain.

A wild little ride of a story. More please!
Revisado: 02-11-25
I’ve read almost everything KJ Charles has written, and enjoyed them all. As ever, these characters each carry their share of scars and complexities, and the occult storyline is creepy and fun. I just wish there were more books in the series!

Historia
After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals. Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though–not even with a lifetime of training.

If you’ve gotten this far, I’m sorry
Revisado: 12-15-24
These books started fairly strong in terms of character and plot. The writing wasn’t amazing, but it was coherent at least. I heard the author either lost or fired her editor along the way and it shows. This feels like a first draft at best. The multi-chapter spicy scene near the end reads like every idea for a spicy scene just written out back to back.
Despite the hype, skip this whole series (or, if you must, just read the first three and watch TikTok summaries of the rest).

Sherlock Holmes via Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. LOVED IT
Revisado: 07-08-24
I was just thinking that i could really use a queer female trans-dimensional retelling of Sherlock Holmes the other day and—as ever—Alexis Hall delivers. What an absolute delight from start to finish!

Nicholas Boulton is an incredible narrator
Revisado: 05-28-24
I LOVE Alexis Hall’s writing. I am consistently charmed and find myself giggling and breathless like falling in love with nearly every book. Prosperity was really difficult to read on the page since I’m not as familiar with regional English accents. Nicholas Boulton makes this book sing. Every time I listen to him perform he brings another facet of tone, inflection, personality…all of these characters are so alive. This was a win for me.

Historia
After being a soldier, working as a bodyguard should have been simple: Keep the owner of DC’s ultra-secret club safe, don’t think about his midnight eyes or his devil’s smile, don’t surrender my body to his wicked desires. But I underestimated Mark Trevena and the power of his dark, seductive world. I underestimated the hold he’d have on me, the way I would do anything for him at all. And so when he asks me to escort his soon-to-be bride home, I can only—miserably, broken-heartedly–say yes.

Exquisitely, painfully erotic…
Revisado: 03-29-24
First off, I am a Sierra Simone devotee. Her writing and the dynamics she carefully crafts between her characters are delicious and intricate. I read and re-read the New Camelot series and am loving this series so far centering on Mark, Tristan and Isolde. Mark is so brutal and skilled and sure, and i can’t wait to see what happens next. I enjoyed the story overall and am panting for June to roll around to see how the three of them come together and how outside events will coalesce.
I’ve heard this narrator before and overall really liked his reading of Tristan. Didn’t blow my socks off but a really enjoyable listen overall.

Historia
I'm not a good man, and I've never pretended to be. I don't believe in goodness or God or any happy ending that isn't paid for in advance. What do I believe in? Money. Sex. Macallan 18. They have words for men like me - playboy. Womanizer. Skirt chaser. My brother used to be a priest, and he only has one word for me: sinner.

Great characters, solid story. Theologically sexy?
Revisado: 03-05-24
I’ll start by saying I exist at the intersection of spirituality, sex, and mortality. I am a post-deconstruction palliative care chaplain with a healthy kinky streak. From the Midwest. Ha. Reading this book was like an uncanny patchwork of vignettes from my real working life and fantasies about how I wish I had been introduced to sex. At some point I’m going to need to reach out to Sierra Simone because I think—I know—we’d be good friends.
I have loved all the characters I’ve read in her books so far and Sean and Zenny were no exception. There is, as always with this author, a surfeit of carnal delights. 🥵🥵🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️🔥🔥🔥. As someone who has been in and around serious illness and hospital death for the past 11 years professionally, I can say that her descriptions of the scenarios and decisions were really solid and deeply moving. When Sean has a “palliative care discussion” about their “arrangement” early on I died laughing and thought of all the times I’ve had to employ skills from my professional life in my personal life.
I loved the theological reflection and the thorny and tangled existential themes of meaning, love, belonging, mortality…
While I love the dynamic between the main characters, I found myself wanting to see more of the relationship between the brothers. It also didn’t quite feel believable that Sean and Elijah are best friends and they barely speak twice in the entire book. The age gap made me also want to see more of Zenny’s family, her dynamic with Elijah and more what it looked like for her family to find out about their relationship. Especially since Dr. and Judge Iverson are described as so formidable.
Narration- I’d listen to Jacob Morgan read recipes and be soaked. His female voices and various subtle accents are solid compared to a lot of other narrators.
A heartfelt and sexy read. Can’t recommend Sierra Simone’s books enough!!

Historia
Neve Blackthorne, head of one of the most successful Studios in Hollywood, is the one to rule them all. Powerful, beautiful, and aloof, she's ruthless, yet irresistible. Above all, she has an unquenchable survival instinct. Surely a fleeting entanglement with one Audrey Avens, a bright, young, rising star in her company, won't bring down the Wicked Queen of Tinseltown. Or will it? Neve's public persona has no chink in the untouchable armor, but when the lights go out and the cameras stop rolling, what becomes of an Ice Queen whose heart is ruled by love and fear?

Fantastic narration of a moving and sexy story
Revisado: 12-22-23
Solid writing. Great characters. Brilliant narration. I loved the gradual and believable unraveling of the main character’s trauma and eventual journey of healing and recovery. The dynamic between her and her love interest is dynamite and super hot. Rock solid read.
