Couldn't get through it
Revisado: 04-10-23
I regret not reading the reviews beforehand. Went with the title, but after a couple of hours of bible verses and "just listen to the voice of God" I gave up.

I've been looking for a book like this!
Revisado: 03-17-23
I loved it so much. Often in my search for indigenous history and culture, I found books about the native American struggle and all the atrocities endured during the Indian wars. While these facts are important to know, I still wanted the old stories and to hear about how these people lived, rather than the ways they died. This book talks about culture, morals, principles, and the stories used to convey them. Also about the resilience of Lakota culture with some modern stories as well. Definitely will listen to it again soon

Historia
Fat is an obsession, a dirty word, a subject of national handwringing - and, according to biochemist Sylvia Tara, the least understood part of our body. You may not love your fat, but your body certainly does. In fact your body is actually endowed with many self-defense measures to hold on to fat. For example, fat can use stem cells to regenerate; increase our appetite if it feels threatened; and use bacteria, genetics, and viruses to expand itself. The secret to losing 20 pounds? You have to work with your fat, not against it.

Great book!
Revisado: 02-13-17
For those who like reading about science, research, and medical cases, this book is wildly interesting! Never knew fat as an organ that controls so many systems in the body. The stories are also told with anecdotes from patients and the author herself, so it breaks the monotony of cold hard data.
