Historia
New Jersey State Trooper Jon Mazer has been charged with killing Black investigative reporter Stewart Marshall in a racially charged, headline-making murder. The evidence against criminal defense attorney Erin McCabe’s new client is overwhelming. The gun used is Mazer’s off-duty weapon. Fingerprints and carpet fibers link Mazer to the crime. And Mazer was patrolling Marshall’s neighborhood shortly before the victim took three bullets to the chest. Mazer’s argument? He’s a gay officer being set up to take the fall in an even bigger story.

Historia
Erin McCabe has been referred the biggest case of her career. Four months ago, William E. Townsend, Jr., son of a New Jersey state senator, was found fatally stabbed in a rundown motel near Atlantic City. Sharise Barnes, a 19-year-old transgender prostitute, is in custody, and given the evidence against her, there seems little doubt of a guilty verdict. Erin knows that defending Sharise will blow her own private life wide open, and doubtless deepen her estrangement from her family. Yet as a trans woman, she feels uniquely qualified to help Sharise.

Fantastic narration of terrific story
Revisado: 10-03-24
Love crime/legal fiction. I happen to be gay and came upon this book and thought it might be interesting. WOW--this is a beautifully written thriller with trans issues deftly weaved into the story. The characters are more than interesting and the narration of them is phenomenal. On to Gigl's next one!

Sorry, boring
Revisado: 12-14-23
Love Barbra. She’s so talented. Found her a bit self indulgent as expected. Her narration was excellent. But, more than anything, it was tedious and boring and it was killing me that I had 46 more hours of this. Gave up quickly. Sorry Babs!

Mickey’s Tirade!
Revisado: 12-14-23
Another fabulous Haller tale. Mickey’s tirade with the judge near the end was worth every second. Didn’t know where he was going but then, well, totally Mickey. Narration with three narrators was perfect. Damn, Connelly better be writing another!

Beautiful
Revisado: 06-18-23
Abraham Verghese writes so beautifully. His personal narration of this literary masterpiece locks it in. I loved rewinding and listening to some passages over and over. He made me cry (almost bawl) a few times and laugh out loud many times. His first book, My Own Country, is still my favorite book of all time. I was a doc in training when it was first published and it served as an inspiration and a model for my career. Like My Own Country, the medical passages in Covenant were like “ultimate bites”—-so wonderfully written and narrated. Couldn’t get enough!

Great narration but weak story
Revisado: 04-21-23
The first half of the book lays down an interesting premise with adequate story telling. The second half falls entirely flat with a quickly deteriorating story accompanied by detritus sophomoric writing. The last 15 min were painful. Loved the writing and narration, however, for Krystal. Not a save though. Sorry.
