Historia
In Love Wins, Rob Bell confronted the troubling questions that many people of faith are afraid to ask about heaven, hell, fate, and faith. Using the same inspired, inquisitive approach, he now turns to our most sacred book: the Bible. What Is the Bible? provides insights and answers that make clear why the Bible is so revered and what makes it truly inspiring and essential to our lives. Rob takes us deep into actual passages to reveal the humanity behind the Scriptures.

Everyone wants to put their sexuality and their spirituality together. But how does one do that in a sex-crazed and sex-denying culture – not to mention in a church that advises, 'Just say no!'

Insightful and God-focused wisdom on sexuality
Revisado: 07-26-16
I thoroughly enjoyed this talk by Bp. Gene Robinson for it's fresh insights into sex as a vulnerability that exposes God's vulnerability in creating us to love God (or not). Robinson expands the notion of what is sexual beyond the genitals and provides principles by which one might judge for oneself whether one is being appropriately vulnerable, given the context of the relationship. Towards the end, in a question and answer session, Robinson encourages us to take our sexuality before God and pray for healing. Quite a spiritually-uplifting listen filled with warmth and grace.

Thought provoking, practical and hopeful
Revisado: 12-27-15
Narrated in a comforting, upbeat tone by the author, Lasting Impact thoroughly encouraged me to think creatively and practically about strategies for engaging people and how to implement those strategies. I loved the guidance on how to have important conversations as well as guidance on how to build a team capable of visioning and implementing change. The audio book has extras not in the printed versions, but I wish I had a hard copy so I can look up the sources and studies referenced in the text. Otherwise, this was a thoroughly uplifting and motivating listen.

A fun, satisfying listen
Revisado: 12-10-15
I have come to thoroughly enjoy Michael Thomas Ford's complex and intertwined story lines. I am glad to meet and get to know each of his richly drawn characters. Although the resolutions are somewhat "predictable" they are also satisfying and the journey towards their destinations are filled with interesting (and, frequently, steamy) twists and turns. I'm ready to listen to another one of his in this vein.

Historia
More than 60 percent of young people who went to church as teens drop out after high school. This is a striking and alarming statistic. Now the bestselling author of unChristian trains his researcher's eye on these young believers. Where Kinnaman's first book unChristian showed the world what outsiders aged 16–29 think of Christianity, You Lost Me shows why younger Christians, ages 16–29, are leaving the church and rethinking their faith. Kinneaman offers suggestions on how to help young people develop and maintain a vibrant faith....

I now feel equipped to begin
Revisado: 08-24-15
I loved listening to this audio book because of the deep, hard-earned wisdom it contained. I loved the building metaphor with its focus on foundations, tasks, processes and long-term visioning. Halfway through listening, I bought a softcover version of the book so I can review its many helpful bullet points and lists. As I begin a new phase of youth ministry I will be referring to this text as a resource for many years to come.

Historia
Finding one's calling is not just about finding something we can do - it is about finding what we can't not do. "Let your life speak" is a time-honored Quaker admonition to live one's life as witness to the deepest truths one knows. But as Parker Palmer explains, those words can also mean "listen to your life, and let it tell you what your truth is."

Wisdom on living life, beating depression
Revisado: 07-09-15
Although this is a book about vocation, Palmer makes a connection between depression and trying to be something other than one's true self. His take is much more nuanced than I can present here, and it is well worth a listen.
