The story was very compelling and the writing was good. However, the female narrator was not good at all and it detracted from my enjoyment. She was very stilted in her delivery and even mispronounced certain words.

Great background story

I saw Come from Away in Orlando. Started crying 10 minutes in and never stopped. This was a great background for the production.

Adored this memoir

I laughed, cried, got mad, rejoiced, applauded this girl for her tenacity and ability to not only survive but thrive with good humor. I also applauded her mother for the same. Most of all I loved their devotion to rescue animals. Hope the “Funny Farm” goes on forever.

Disappointing

Hiaasen Hits It Out of The Park Again

Another rollicking convoluted romp as only Carl Hiaasen can do. And so timely. Great characters. My favorite was Angie Armstrong,
The heroine. Also includes my favorite recurring characters: Skink, the former FL governor and Jim Tile, the now retired highway patrolman. Think even die hard supporters of our current POTUS can’t help but laugh.

WOW!

Getting to love the Audible originals; haven’t listened to one I didn’t like & most I’ve liked a great deal. I also like the ones of short duration (5 hours or less). This was a really well conceived story/mystery & I had to finish in one day. Not gonna give any details or spoilers. Loved Ellen Archer as narrator. Only caveat is that it might be hard for people who have lost a child.

Love Kate Morton

Kate Morton never disappoints. While this is one of her earlier books, it’s my favorite. I never fail to be amazed by her attention to detail and, I assume, historical accuracy. And while sometimes I think this is TOO much detail, I always come to realize it’s necessary to make everything work.

Not The Night Circus

I eagerly awaited The Starless Sea because I LOVED The Night Circus and I’m sad to say I was disappointed in The Starless Sea. Perhaps if I had read the print version I would have liked it more. There were just too many characters, stories both old & new for me to follow with any continuity by listening. I wanted to go to The Night Circus but Starless Sea never engaged me in the same way. Also, fantasy/magic has never been my favorite genre.

Kate Morton Is AMAZING!

Don’t even know where to start. This is my fourth or fifth Kate Morton book and now understand why it’s so many people’s favorite. What an unbelievably imagined and incredibly crafted story. I’m a voracious reader and can often see where a story is heading but it wasn’t until at least midway through that I had a suspicion that someone hadn’t died when I thought they did. The historical detail was excellent. Historical fiction is my favorite genre & The Secret Keeper is one of the best I’ve read.

Harlan Coben rarely if ever disappoints
