Historia
Suppose you could ask God the most puzzling questions about existence, and God would provide clear, understandable answers? It happened to Neale Donald Walsch. Conversations with God is Neale Donald Walsch's account of his direct conversations with God, beginning in 1992 while Walsch was immersed in a period of deep depression. He composed a letter to God in which he vented his frustrations, and much to his surprise, even shock, God answered him.

A Contribution to Theological Thought
Revisado: 05-22-24
First of all, I absolutely believe in a creator. That said, most religions fail miserably because they don't take into account scientific observation, historical fact, other points of view, and the fact that God is beyond human understanding. This book attempts to reconcile eastern and western philosophy with science and theology. It ultimately fails but is superior to the current static religious philosophies that promote propaganda and fairy tales. The idea that the author speaks to God is rubbish - just a ploy to sell his books. Still I believe the author has made a significant contribution to theological philosophy.

Historia
Hans Castorp is, on the face of it, an ordinary man in his early 20s, on course to start a career in ship engineering in his home town of Hamburg, when he decides to travel to the Berghof Santatorium in Davos. The year is 1912 and an oblivious world is on the brink of war. Castorp’s friend Joachim Ziemssen is taking the cure and a three-week visit seems a perfect break before work begins. But when Castorp arrives he is surprised to find an established community of patients, and little by little, he gets drawn into the closeted life and the individual personalities of the residents.

One of the Greatest Literary Masterpieces
Revisado: 11-26-23
The Magic Mountain is frequently tedious, verbose, repetitive and pedagogic. Yet a single page of this masterwork contains more truth, wisdom and insight than are contained in entire books of a lesser quality. For example, the concepts of time, morality, illness and death are deftly explored by interweaving philosophical, theological, physical, and metaphysical viewpoints.

I don't fathom why creatures capable of interstellar travel are depicted as mindless brutes, incapable of learning not to touch an electric fence. The writing is okay but the plat just doesn't hang together.

Historia
Taylor is the name, John Taylor. My card says I'm a detective, but what I really am is an expert on finding lost things. It's part of the gift I was born with as a child of the Nightside. I left there a long time ago, with my skin and sanity barely intact. Now I make my living in the sunlit streets of London. But business has been slow lately, so when Joanna Barrett showed up at my door, reeking of wealth, asking me to find her runaway teenage daughter, I didn't say no.

Historia
From Frank Brady, who wrote one of the best-selling books on Bobby Fischer of all time and who was himself a friend of Fischer’s, comes an impressively researched biography that for the first time completely captures the remarkable arc of Bobby Fischer’s life. When Bobby Fischer passed away in January 2008, he left behind a confounding legacy. Everyone knew the basics of his life—he began as a brilliant youngster, then became the pride of American chess, then took a sharp turn, struggling with paranoia and mental illness. But nobody truly understood him.

Bobby Fischer may have been one of the world's greatest chess geniuses but he was a miserable human being. I'd much rather read about the fictitious Beth Harmon.
