Seemingly abandoned by her parents on a dark and lonely road during a freezing rain storm, Abby desperately seeks shelter before losing consciousness. She wakes in a strangely beautiful place, a modern yet castle-like building powered by an AI more advanced than any she has ever experienced.

Weaving lucid dreaming, science and faith
Revisado: 08-18-19
A cast of young adult characters searching for answers in a strange but believable situation, in which Romance is an integral part of the mystery, makes this a lovely and entertaining blend of fact and fiction. I look forward to any future work that involves this cast of characters and how their futures may unfold. It's a great story and, as always, enhanced by Maria's enchanting voice.

Historia
I was supposed to start college next year, but after being given a ticket to Cairo as a high school graduation present, I skipped the ceremony and jumped on the plane. My name is Mary Fallon. I'm 18 years old, and for as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by ancient Egypt. I could never have imagined the experiences awaiting me here in the ancient land of the pharaohs, including having my first lucid dream.

Fills you mind and senses
Revisado: 04-21-18
Would you consider the audio edition of The Spirit of Imhotep to be better than the print version?
I only have the audio book and its a very rich experience
What did you like best about this story?
The blend of physical and spiritual realms in a believable way, delivered by Maria in a voice that is liquid gold.
Which scene was your favorite?
The very end...... not telling.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Filled my senses and encouraged several lucid dreams
Any additional comments?
Where to start, I got this book and my first thoughts being that it might be aimed at a younger audience and most likely female and so started listening with some apprehension on what to expect.
It was a pleasant surprise to find that I was partly right and so very wrong. The story develops in an interesting way with a young female and the opportunity she is offered, is loaded with false leads, historical fact and supported with a good dose of entertainment and suspense. There are elements of lucid dreaming that hold my interest, and these are woven into the story in a way that is interesting and like the story itself leads on into deeper themes and thoughts.
I listen to audio books on long drives and found it hard to avoid playing this one on the shorter daily trips around town but did manage to save it for the longer drives. The Spirit of Imhotep was a great listen and as expected Maria’s voice is liquid gold and made for a lovey experience.
The weaving of dreams and lucid dreaming into the plot makes for added interest and as a dreamer the story seeded some nice lucid dreams. One very special dream of religious significance appeared to me a little before I heard it narrated in the book and this was a high point of another winner from Maria
Book one of a series, keen to follow on as the rest are available and see how Mary copes with a lot more physical and spiritual challenges

Historia
Daughter of the high priest of Re, Asenath is a child when she first meets the Hebrew slave, Joseph. That night her lucid dreams begin as her heart and destiny are forever joined with the extraordinary man whom Elohim, the one true God, has chosen as part of his plan for the world's redemption. The untold story of Asenath's awakening to the divine truth through the power of love and dreams gives flesh, blood, and soul to the woman scripture merely names as Joseph's bride.

Enjoyable and interesting
Revisado: 04-20-17
What made the experience of listening to Dreaming in Egypt the most enjoyable?
The narrator has a lovey voice that is a mix of strength, passion and projects curiosity through one of the characters that made a delightful easy listen
What other book might you compare Dreaming in Egypt to and why?
No book but a historical novel presented in a way that engages
Have you listened to any of Maria Isabel Pita’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, and the usual high standard I expect. Well researched and factual where it should be and a delightful story where it matters.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No - I wanted it to last
Any additional comments?
There is a mix of fact, fantasy and some decent into the area of conscious or lucid dreaming. It was all blended in a wonderful way so never felt like a rough shift or a point was being made, just an easy too and fro that added depth to the work

Historia
The first of six books in the epic historical novel covering the entire life of Hatshepsut, the ancient Egyptian queen who was crowned king and for more than 20 years ruled on the Horus Throne of the Living as the Female Falcon, Maatkare. Before becoming Pharaoh, Hatshepsut served as God's Wife of Amun, an important economic and spiritual office created by her grandfather that holds the key to her mysterious and unprecedented power. Maatkare was not only a charismatic political leader, she was a mystic who inspired the wholehearted devotion of brilliant men.

Pleasant suprise
Revisado: 11-01-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes, found a lovely mix of fact and fiction that continued to entertain and suprise all the way through the story
What did you like best about this story?
How the world at that time is captured through the eyes of a child
What does Maria Isabel Pita bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
It really surprised me as I did not know what to expect and listened to most of it yesterday on a long drive.
It is delightful, informative and entertaining. I can place myself in the scene as I turn everything into images and it holds my attention so will carry on with the rest.
Maria has a lovely voice as well, it is sweet, clear and also comes across as having a underlying strength that adds depth to story."
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
yes, at times buried in the innocence of a child there are elements of character that I feel will emerge in the future timeline as quite sinister and this is enchanting and disturbing at the same time.
Any additional comments?
Just enjoy the story, its well worth a listen and will put you into a world lost to time
