Love this woman.
Revisado: 07-16-23
For me, at least. Very relatable. A very proud woman whom I think is often misunderstood for being such.

Toby never meant to be a highway robber, but needs must. He didn’t plan to impersonate a top London valet either, but when the chance comes to present himself as the earl of Arvon’s new gentleman's gentleman, he grabs it. Unfortunately, the earl is the man he seduced and robbed on the road to get here. Oops.

Historia
The owners of the Point Pleasant Chalet dropped the Christmas Ball in my lap with only two weeks to plan the big event. I’m totally overwhelmed. Then he ran into me, this stranger from Europe with his large shoulders and smoldering eyes. It was love at first sight! When his situation changes and he may have to cut his vacation short, I hire him to play the Nutcracker Prince for the Chalet’s Christmas season. It’s a win-win for everyone. He can stay through the holiday as he had planned, and I get to know him better. I don’t know why I’m doing this.

Cute story. Questionable narration.
Revisado: 12-01-22
Another charming holiday romance. No big surprises. The character of the prince is described as a dark haired, broad shouldered lethario, but is voiced like a quavering, dotty old woman from an Agatha Christie novel. The disconnect was hard to wrap my head around.

Historia
Laurie Notaro has proved everyone wrong: she didn’t end up in rehab, prison, or cremated at a tender age. She just went gray. At past fifty, every hair’s root is a symbol of knowledge (she knows how to use a landline), experience (she rode in a car with no seat belts), and superpowers (a gray-haired lady can get away with anything). Though navigating midlife is initially upsetting—the cracking noises coming from her new old body, receiving regular junk mail from mortuaries—Laurie accepts it. And then some.

Historia
Bridesmaids meets Big Little Lies in a novel told from the alternating perspectives of two women who define the term frenemies - from New York Times best-selling author Jen Lancaster. Jacqueline Jordan knows conflict. A fearless journalist, she’s spent the past decade embedded in the world’s hot spots, writing about the fall of nations and the rise of despots. But if you were to inquire about who topped Jack’s enemy list, she’d not hesitate to answer: Kitty Carricoe.

First fiction of hers for me. Her memoirs are sometimes a bit too pedantic for my taste. However that rolls very nicely into these characters and storyline.

Historia
Most people on the island avoid the hot-tempered chef, but he doesn't scare me. Sure, he's prickly, but I've also caught him feeding a stray cat, so I know there's more to him than the sky-high barbed-wire fence he's built around himself. When Storm's ex-husband shows up unexpectedly during the off-season and refuses to go home, pretending to be Storm’s boyfriend is apparently my new job. Faking it with my grumpy boss should not be this much fun, especially since the last thing I need is to make a fool of myself by falling for anyone else on the island.

Historia
If there’s one trait that makes someone well-suited to comedy, it’s being able to take a punch - metaphorically and, occasionally, physically. Told with a healthy dose of self-deprecation, A Very Punchable Face reveals the brilliant mind behind some of the dumbest sketches on television, and lays bare the heart and humor of a hardworking guy - with a face you can’t help but want to punch.

Historia
Dean Murphy hates Christmas a little more each year. His job as a pharmacy manager requires him to festoon his store with seasonal cheer, but his distaste for the lurid commercialism is only topped by his irritation with the syrupy sentimentalism. Being alone sucks, but he’s managed just fine without friends or family for years. Why should December 25 be any different?
