Historia
Everything starts somewhere. For elite military cop Jack Reacher, that somewhere was Carter Crossing, Mississippi, way back in 1997. A young woman is dead, and solid evidence points to a soldier at a nearby military base. But that soldier has powerful friends in Washington. Reacher is ordered undercover - to find out everything he can, to control the local police, and then to vanish. Reacher is a good soldier. But when he gets to Carter Crossing, he finds layers no one saw coming, and the investigation spins out of control.

Different narrator would have been better
Revisado: 07-21-18
The story line was great. I love Lee Child's writing. I thought a different narrator would have been better. Dick Hill sounds older than Jack Reacher is supposed to be. He sounded out of breath sometimes and he was too articulate for this type of character. He actually ruined part of the Jack Reacher experience for me. Do not use this narrator for a woman. He just makes her sound like a transvestite instead of a vibrant sexy woman. Absolutely terrible.

Lots of violence
Revisado: 07-07-17
the story line took me awhile to get into. once I did it was hard to put down. Be aware that there are lots of violent descriptions that were hard to read. The author did an amazing job. I'm glad I stuck with it and finished it.

On a frigid New Year’s Eve in Minneapolis, a young woman’s brutalized body falls from the trunk of a car into the path of oncoming traffic. Questions as to whether she was alive or dead when she hit the icy pavement result in her macabre nickname, Zombie Doe. Unidentified and unidentifiable, she is the ninth nameless female victim of the year, and homicide detectives Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are charged with the task of not only finding out who Zombie Doe is but who in her life hated her enough to destroy her. Was it personal? Or could it just have been a crime of opportunity?

I loved this book. the author did an excellent job of getting the reader to know the caracters. The plot was complicated and interesting. Very hard to put this book down. I am not sure I liked the narrator. His performance was good it was just that his voice annoyed me sometimes. It did not stop me from reading the book.

It was his first big murder case - and one of the bloodiest and most violent crimes LAPD detective Danny McGuire would ever encounter. Andrew Jakes, an elderly multimillionaire art dealer, had been brutally murdered in his Hollywood home, his lifeless body tied to his naked young wife. Raped and beaten, the lovely Angela Jakes had barely survived the attack herself. Gazing into her deep, soulful eyes, Danny swore that he'd find the psychopath behind this barbarous act.

A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.
