Revisado: 05-15-24
Wow, this book has so many twists and turns it’s impossible to guess (at least correctly) who the stalker is! It’s bold and scary! True to form Alexander weaves an entire town full of interesting characters. Excellent narration by Lori Prince!

I wanted to love it…
Revisado: 04-04-24
I adore Hildred Billings but as a person who practices BDSM the books dynamics were absolutely lacking. Hired or not the submissive wasn’t educated enough to participate in those dynamics. The rest of the story was entertaining but I couldn’t get over that aspect. The very casual use of the collar happens but this was just off. The narration was great!

Revisado: 02-26-24
I love all of the books in this series, and this seemed like a really good way to tie things up. The narration for the series is always done well. Overall, if you read the other books, this is a great last hurrah.

Writer and performer Ivan Coyote has spent decades on the road, telling stories around the world. An incredible collection from an incredible story teller
Revisado: 02-20-24
Ivan Coyote is a true storyteller. I first read his book, tomboy survival guide. As a femme from a small rural town who grew up loving butches I felt tomboy survival guide not only touched on some of my own similar experiences but, taught me to love my masculine partners better. I read letters of care slowly so that I could absorb each story. Ivan’s storytelling is brush strokes on a canvas. He paints a vivid picture of the LGBTQ+ experience and small town life. As a 38 year old lesbian I felt seen in these pages as I took in the underlying tone of both grief and gratitude to be an older queer person. In this carefully crafted collection of letters and responses you can feel the compassion and empathy the author has for his community. So much so that I consider listening to this book an act of self care. While there is something lovely about reading words on a page with Ivan Coyote I always listen to his books. They will remind you of chats with friends, performance art, and your older gay god parent from the bar/cafe all at once. Thank you Ivan for your care and creativity.

A Spicy Quicky
Revisado: 05-28-23
At first I thought what seemed like less character development would be an issue for me. If you go in knowing this short is just capturing a quick moment in time it’s a light spicy read! Maybe too hot to listen to on your next flight.

Making my divorce bearable
Revisado: 05-13-23
Yet again the magic that is the combination of Robin Alexander & Lori Prince has me up late at night. Rather than cry over my divorce I grow new abs laughing at the ever entertaining village of supporting characters Alexander dreams up and Prince executes perfectly. The main characters were engaging and interesting as was the town itself. I loved that the house was its own character of sorts.

A lovely slow burn
Revisado: 09-07-22
I love Frame’s paranormal books so, I thought I’d try a traditional romance. This slow burn was such a lovely read I’m purchasing the rest in the series. A few highlights that make this book stand out from the rest are inclusion of characters with chronic illness/disabilities, butch/femme dynamics, and mild references to kink outside of MC’s in an every day life kind of way.

Alandra Michaels is your everyday, run-of-the-mill, ordinary witch. She doesn't have an affinity for an element, like her sister. She can't speak to the dead, like her mother. Even her familiar - Beezelbub the moth - is a plain, non-threatening insect. Alandra is fine with that; she knows what she is and what she isn't. Or so she thought... When a spell goes wrong and a gorgeous woman shows up in her living room claiming to be the Moon, everything changes for Alandra and her magical abilities will be put to the test. Can she reverse the spell and send Luna back to her realm?

Historia
Emmy Harlow is a witch but not a very powerful one - in part because she hasn't been home to the magical town of Thistle Grove in years. Her self-imposed exile has a lot to do with a complicated family history and a desire to forge her own way in the world, and only the very tiniest bit to do with Gareth Blackmoore, heir to the most powerful magical family in town and casual breaker of hearts and destroyer of dreams.

You just have to get past chapter 6
Revisado: 08-21-22
I actually tried to return this book after listening for 6 chapters. Using phrases like “The L Word Meets Sabrina” had me thinking their would be more WLW or F/F romance… or really any at all. The concept was good but most of the early book is focused on a man. A chapter or 3 would have been sufficient but it took6.
Ch 1-6
Three small town girls two of whom are bisexual and one of whom is seemingly straight set out to get revenge on a man boy who kept relationships with each of them under wraps in order to not get caught cheating or to avoid social scrutiny from his circle. Each relationship spans a 9 year time period from grade 11 on. Said man boy is full of cis male privilege. Talia and Emmi share glances but not much more all the way to chapter 6.
From this point on the book starts to focus more on the families, competitions, and relationships between the 2 main characters. The author paints a beautiful picturesque grown up Halloween town full of fall vibes. There are other great themes of growth for the MC like branching out on your own, embracing where you come from, and discovering your own power.
Over all I would give chapters 1-6 1-2 ⭐️ and the remainder of the book 4 ⭐️.
The narrator was great!
