Historia
In this retreat experience, Richard Rohr explores the role of men in society and religion. Father Rohr focuses on the yearning to rediscover passion in masculine identity and in the purpose of life. He uses archetypes (symbolic images) to transmit his powerful message about male spirituality and integration. He challenges listeners to encounter their archetype (king, warrior, magician, or lover), recognize its dark side, and empower their journey through drumming, dialogue, and discovery.

Richard Rohr Mens Retreat

Richard was truly present in this audiobook. He spoke to men, as a man, not as someone removed, not as someone above.
Truly honest, not giving the company line at all times. I saw another review where the reviewer didn’t like that.
I am an Anglican, used to hearing a bit of a different take to that of the safe Church people so what Richard says, appeals to me.

Glucose, or blood sugar, is a tiny molecule in our body that has a huge impact on our health. It enters our bloodstream through the starchy or sweet foods we eat. In the past five years, scientists have discovered that glucose affects everyone—not just people with diabetes. In Glucose Revolution, scientist and researcher Jessie Inchauspe offers timeless lessons to lower your glucose levels quickly—and for good—without going on a diet.

This is the second time I have listened to this audiobook. I also have the hard copy of this book.
I particularly like that Jessie made a special book for Australia, because when she talks about fasting blood sugar levels they are the numbers I know, as between 4 and 8, not the numbers in the US, which might be 88, 100 etc.
I loved that she said Herbal, not Urbal, she gave weights in kilograms not in pounds. That’s easy enough to calculate, but the overseas numbers for blood sugar are not so easy. It’s great she put this bit of effort in.

In the appendix to the book The Moses Code, author and sound-healing pioneer Jonathan Goldman shares an amazing discovery he made while working with James Twyman. Now, for the first time, an ancient form of Kabbalistic numerology called Gemantria is being combined with the name of God that was given to Moses at the burning bush: I AM THAT I AM.

In order to decide whether to purchase an audiobook, I first listen to the sample. That generally gives me an idea what the book will be like.
This audiobook gave me a good feeling listening to the sample, so based on that feeling I decided to buy it.
I also often read the reviews, which were generally very negative, so I went by my feelings, which didn’t let me down.
It would have been good if the songs were separated and called chapters with song names. Some Christian songs, what did the other reviewers expect?
A very good audiobook 😀

Before listening to this book, I read the previous negative review, and while listening at first, tried to hear what the previous reviewer was saying. I did not hear any contrived sultry emphasis, only the reader’s natural reading voice.
If this reader’s style was not to his liking, that is his concern, and I found her soft speaking voice perfectly acceptable.
I found the story excellent as all Patricia Briggs stories are.

I am not surprised a new reader would give Bran an accent. After all the Mercy books and so far the Anna and Charles books, Bran sounds one way and now he sounds different.
So there is a change after nearly 20 or so books. Maybe I just don’t like changes.

Historia
Whistling Tor is a place of secrets: a mysterious, wooded hill housing the crumbling fortress belonging to Anluan - a chieftain whose name is spoken throughout the region in tones of revulsion and bitterness. A curse lies over Anluan's family and his people, and the woods themselves hold a perilous force whose every whisper threatens doom. Then the young scribe Caitrin appears in Anluan's garden, admiring the rare plant known as heart's blood. Retained to sort through entangled family documents, Caitrin brings about unexpected changes.

I was a bit reluctant at first due to the title, it seemed like something I had read of hers before.
Another of her books had them building a house with hearts wood, and one of her Blackthorn and Grim books talked about true hearts tears.
Very different and unique. A true pleasure to listen to

How not to diet
Revisado: 02-05-22
My first thought when listening to the start of this book was that Michael was either drunk or on something. I kept listening because the information was very good.
After a while his style becomes more normal, and the scope and importance of the information are much more important than his style of reading. He has researched more than any others in this field.
I know Dean Ornish and T Colin Campbell have done their own research, but Michael Greger has read so many studies and peer reviewed research that I think he has the best overall view of the topic.
He has provided a hugely comprehensive document, that for me very much outweigh his speaking style..I also have the hard copy book which is 690 pages. I find it much easier to listen to this audiobook than it is to read the book.
I gave this audiobook 5 stars on each category because I feel his information will change my life, the way I eat, and hopefully add a bit more health to my years.

Historia
The China Study offers conclusive evidence that a change of diet can dramatically reduce the risks of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. The book is based on the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted, a 20-year joint project between Cornell University, Oxford University, and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. The study surveyed the eating habits of 6,500 adults from all over China and Taiwan and found a direct correlation between diet and disease.

I haven’t ever had an audiobook that I have listened to over and over straight away.
I have the physical book, and I have it on iBooks. There is just so much information in this book.
To say this book changed my life is a pretty fair statement.
I live close enough to the beach to walk along the beach path most mornings.
I have access to fresh fruit and vegetables through many shops.
I have heard before that there are areas where they are not available. We have many fast food options and the food very cheap.
I guess in times gone bye, people would read the Bible over and over like this book.

Historia
Exercise is health-enhancing and life-extending, yet many of us feel it's a chore. But as Kelly McGonigal reveals, it doesn't have to be. Movement can and should be a source of joy. Through her trademark blend of science and storytelling, McGonigal draws on insights from neuroscience, psychology, anthropology, and evolutionary biology, as well as memoirs, ethnographies, and philosophers. She shows how movement is intertwined with some of the most basic human joys, including self-expression, social connection, and mastery.

I found the experience of listening to this audiobook much more than I expected. I have listened to it several times, each time picking up new things, maybe different meanings.
I expect I will listen to it many more times. I had been used to having less strength, less endurance as I got older. To reverse that feeling of weakness by exercising was not unique to this time, but to understand just why it is pleasurable has led me to walk more, especially in nature, and when I can’t do that, to use my exercise bike to build strength.
