Erika: His name is Michael Crist. My boyfriend's older brother is like that scary movie that you peek through your hand to watch. He's handsome, strong, and completely terrifying. The star of his college's basketball team and now gone pro, he's more concerned with the dirt on his shoe than me.

I shot my (body part) (direction) to write this review
Revisado: 11-14-24
Wow, I can't believe this book got published as written. The story itself is okay if pretty gross, but the writing is terrible. I think at one point a character shot a body part in a direction 3 or 4 sentences in a row. Other characters "thinned their eyelids" or "rounded their eyes" a few times, rather than narrowing or widening them. I almost did not finish this book because of just how frequently people shot various body parts up, down, out, and over, and how bad Douglas is at describing actions. I will not be finishing this series.
Someone please get Penelope a dictionary, thesaurus, and better editor ASAP.

Historia
It is 10 years after the global apocalypse. The Phage, the zombie virus that brought the world to its knees, has mutated, restoring the minds of its undead victims: their personalities, their memories... even their dreams. The living dead are no longer the mindless monsters that drove mankind to the brink of extinction.

I don't get the praise for the narration here
Revisado: 02-19-21
The story was decent, but the narrator does the worst, most insulting "southern" accent I've heard. It sounds like someone thought Nathan from South Park had a southern accent and tried to use his voice as reference. Can't understand some of what the characters say because he makes the words so slurred and mushy. I couldn't help but picture every character who had a southern accent as also having Down's syndrome and that pretty much ruined the book for me.

Historia
Long ago, the wars of the ancient Evil ruined the world. In peaceful Shady Vale, half-elfin Shea Ohmsford knows little of such troubles. But the supposedly dead Warlock Lord is plotting to destroy everything in his wake. The sole weapon against this Power of Darkness is the Sword of Shannara, which can be used only by a true heir of Shannara. On Shea, last of the bloodline, rests the hope of all the races.

Not for me.
Revisado: 05-10-19
Bland, boring rip-off of Tolkien. I couldn't finish it. Scott Brick does a decent job of narrating, but the story is just so predictable and insipid that I doubt any narrator could do any better.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I enjoyed it, though I can see why it wouldn't appeal to some. I got the book because I had watched the show and was hoping that the book would clarify some things from the show; it did, but not the ones I was hoping for.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I don't really have a favorite character. Of them all, I dislike Shelly and Destiny the least.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Not really. The narration was probably the worst thing about this audiobook. Runnette just sounded bored most of the time.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
It's already a tv show, and I have seen it. It follows the book probably 90% of the time.
Any additional comments?
I would describe this book as hipster urban fantasy. I don't know if we're supposed to take it at face value or if it's a commentary on books and tv shows like Twilight and The Vampire Diaries.

Revisado: 12-15-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Only the ones who are Twilight fans. It's cheesy, predictable, filled with cliches and terrible dialogue, and has Mary Sue as a main character.
Has Tiger's Curse turned you off from other books in this genre?
No.
What three words best describe Annika Boras and Sanjiv Jahveri ’s voice?
Annika Boras: awkwardly long pauses Sanjiv Jahveri: excessive "ethnic" accent
Could you see Tiger's Curse being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Unfortunately, yes, I could easily see this becoming the next Twilight. I don't care who would act in it.
Any additional comments?
This book was painfully bad and I don't recommend it.
