Historia
Crispin Tredarloe never meant to become a warlock. Freed from his treacherous master, he's learning how to use his magical powers the right way. But it's brutally hard work. Not everyone believes he's a reformed character, and the strain is putting unbearable pressure on his secret relationship with waste-man Ned Hall. Ned's sick of magic. Sick of the trouble it brings, sick of its dangerous grip on Crispin and the miserable look it puts in his eyes, and sick of being afraid that a gentleman magician won't want a street paper-seller forever....

Interesting mystery
Revisado: 04-25-25
I enjoy the setting for this series and the fact that the characters generally get a happy ending after the trials of the storyline. I do dislike how regularly the main characters have to go through some kind of emotional drama and personal attacks on each other usually marked by jumping to conclusions and/or poor communication. They always resolve the problem and apologize by the end, but man do I hate slogging through that. Excellent narrator and I love the accents given to the characters.

Nearly quit, glad I didn’t.
Revisado: 04-25-25
There was a near rape and decidedly abusive scene near the beginning of the story that very nearly made me stop listening to this book. The character was aware of his behavior and showed remorse so I gave it a chance and I am glad I finished the story because things worked out in a positive way and I enjoyed the conclusion very much. I liked the villagers.

What a delightful series!
Revisado: 04-24-25
True to his writing style, Terry Pratchett gave us a story full of laughs, social commentary, serious and melancholy moments, and a wonderful cast of characters to cheer for. Tiffany reminded me very much of Alice, both girls clever and curious and equally willing to follow a fantastical creature into a hole in the ground. The Wee Free Men were hilarious, and it worked really well to have a separate narrator reading their parts. Excellent story, excellent reading, and a delightful story overall.

The last place Ivie expects to be approached by a devastatingly handsome male is in a crowded, smoky cigar bar rarely frequented by vampires - yet here he stands. Silas is flirtatious, gallant, and, above all, mysterious. Ivie is anything but. A nurse at the healer’s clinic and the daughter of a biker, Ivie is accustomed to speaking her mind. So she does. Since aristocrats rarely pick up females of her class, Ivie asks Silas just what kind of game he thinks he’s playing.

Revisado: 04-17-25
This book started out with a judgmental twit of a woman 'speaking her mind' as if making rude assumptions about other people was some sort of social armor. I didn't like her at all. Then she crashes into true wuv with a guy she just met, and suddenly she's the saintly perfect woman and the only thing he has to live for as he conveniently hits the last stages of a deadly disease within a week. But don't worry, it's a romance so of course he's not going to be truly dead, only mostly dead.

Silly fun with an awful ending
Revisado: 04-16-25
After listening to several books that had turned out to be dark and depressing, I really needed some lighthearted silly fun. Alcatraz stories can be counted on to fill that need and I was really enjoying it. I kept pausing the story to repeat funny lines to my husband because he wanted to know what I was chuckling about. Footnote: Kittens are awesome. Bonus when you find them in your cellar. I enjoyed 90% of the book and then that ending hit like a bullet to the face. What the he--ck, Sanderson!? I know that there's another book after this one, but at this point I don't really care if this ending is redeemed. I'm not really feeling like giving it a chance. I have to go try to find some different lighthearted fun because now I need it even more.

The first adventure in the Buccaneers trilogy begins in the free sea outside of the control of the usurping Xoconai empire, where the dwarven powrie pirates and merchants sail. But the golden-skinned Xoconai have begun to encroach upon these waters behind the rapacious attacks of the frigate Crocodile, helmed by Captain Aketz. But when forced to submit, these sailors choose to live, free to do as they please, without some fool or another pretending to hold power over them.

Not finishing this one.
Revisado: 04-16-25
I am really struggling with this book and it just got to the point where I feel like I need to stop. Granted I’m feeling rather melancholy about how people demean and hurt each other based on everything going on in the world right now, and this book is just really hitting wrong. Characters repeatedly slurring other races, saying that if the people they conquered don’t obey them, then they will “slaughter their children before them, slowly, until they change their minds.” And a man just watched his friend get crushed after she was tied spread eagle to the front of her ship and the ship was set adrift to smash into the rocks. That was bad enough, but it just had to be mentioned that her hand was still dangling on the rope afterwards, and I’m done. I have struggled to keep track of who people are with all the fantasy names that are harder to remember when you only hear instead of seeing them, and I haven’t found a connection to the book that I can enjoy so it’s time to move on. I made it halfway through chapter six, so at least I can say that I gave it a shot.

Cute but a bit too YA LitRPG for my taste
Revisado: 04-15-25
This was a cute story with interesting characters and a nice sense of adventure, but it just didn't hold my attention while I was listening. I had to rewind several times because my thoughts had wandered elsewhere and I had no idea what was happening in the book. If you enjoy a short, slower paced adventure story with a lot of "novice character going on a D&D quest" descriptions of what's happening, then this may be the book for you. (When she finds an abandoned village and decides to search the buildings for loot, she actually stops to draw a map of the village in her notebook, describes the symbols used to mark the different features of the village, and then separates it into search quadrants before she starts to look around.) I do recommend this story for folks who enjoy books with a YA safe slower paced story and an antagonist that wasn't terribly intimidating. It WAS good, just not what I personally was looking for so it felt a bit tedious to me.
(I feel bad giving a less than stellar review to a book that really wasn't bad, but I have to leave myself a reminder of what I liked and didn't like about them. Otherwise, five years from now I'll go, "Oh, I have the first book in this series! Why didn't I get the rest? They're on sale, I should get them! Purchase! Oh, yeah.... that was why... and Audible won't let me return books that were purchased during a sale...")

Stacia Reynolds, the famous White Werewolf, plucked from her quiet Vermont life and thrust into the supernatural world. Rescued from mauling by the Hammer of God himself, transformed into one of the most skilled weres in the world, stepping from impoverishment to fame and fortune, and destined to become partner to the most powerful witch ever. This is a story for Demon Accords fans, told by Stacia, in her own words.

Not bad at all
Revisado: 04-15-25
I appreciate that while everyone in this series is wildly powerful, the author does take the time to give a reason for how their particular powers came to be. In this case, mix a newly bitten werewolf with the blood of a fallen angel who happens to have some super duper spectacular DNA and voila, turbo werewolf.
