So disappointed, Cora

Not worth a credit. I have read almost all of Cora Reilly’s books/audiobooks. I felt assured of a good read every time.. I was so very disappointed with the start of her new series. Not much of character development. The dialogue was trash. Story not believable. Can you imagine the head of a mob calling for an Uber? Neither can I. The narrator was not very good. Cora usually has good or great narrators portraying her characters. It wouldn’t have redeemed this book anyway, but a bad narrator can ruin a good book. I have vision difficulties and thus rely on audiobooks.

Beautiful story, wonderful and realistic narration. Colleen Hoover rarely misses her mark. I have found her books to be an almost assured great read!

raw emotional honesty

Thank you for sharing your Story. It takes immense courage to stand up for what is right, against such malice, and hypocrisy, when the cost is so great to you. Those who need to save face, and put appearance above all else, sell a piece of their souls, you refused to. Your Mother would be so proud of you. I pray that one day your estranged family will find a way to acknowledge what they refused to see, and make amends at some point. Be happy and free, Harry.

Reader Beware!

I depend on reviews when choosing books. I read all reviews, negative and positive looking for weak story lines, unbelievable plots, etc. Due to 4.5 star rating and most all positive reviews, I purchased this with expectations of a solid read, but could not finish book. I think some reviewers try to be too kind to the author, I want the reader to know both negatives and positives regarding story, as I expect and appreciate. No one wants to waste credits. This story is so unbelievable as to the mafia (ref. to as ‘gangsters’, even by it’s members). They are noted as powerful, but are so inept, two women with no training, except for ‘some pointers’ from an old boyfriend, become the best money launderers, and even the mafia can’t breakthrough their firewalls. They speak to these killers as if they are more powerful, with no real fear. The dialog is poor at best. I love books and most genres, but please…this book is an insult to the reader’s intellect. The male narrator is good, and the female narrator is average. They were not an issue to this negative review. I don’t expect every book I read to be great, but I do expect to be able to finish the book.

I could not finish this book. Storyline weak, undeveloped characters, bad dialogue. I am a huge fan of Debbie Macomber, but cannot believe she wrote this book. I would not recommend this book even if it was free.

Heartfelt, humorous, and insightful!

I felt as though I was beside Sam Heughan on this emotional, soul searching journey to Ben Nevis. Many of his insights and experiences resonated with me, including his relationship with his biological father. I recommend this book with high regard for this author’s honesty, humor and dedication.
