Paused for Growth
Revisado: 03-12-20
In this sequel to Sensible Shoes, it was refreshing to listen to the growth of each character. I was able to hear a bit of myself in each of them. Most importantly I was able to great God reassuring me thru them that I am loved and to continue to trust Him.

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling authors of America's First Daughter comes the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton - a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. In this haunting, moving, and beautifully written book, Dray and Kamoie used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza's story as it's never been told before - not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

I've always been fascinated by stories of the Pack Horse Librarians. This book shares real insight into the lives of those who were served by those Librarians. It is always thrilling to learn real history while being entertained. The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek made me laugh, cry, sigh, and cheers. Katie Schorr was the perfect narrator for this story.

Revisado: 01-10-20
The women of Sensible Shoes are real. Their struggles are legitimate. When they experience the love of God, their transformation is beautiful.
Sharon Garlough Brown has written the story of their lives in a way that I could relate to and learn from. I felt loved and hopeful for my own journey as I listened to the women of Sensible Shoes build relationships together.

Historia
The prophet Nehemiah’s cousin has been catapulted into the center of the Persian court - working long hours, rubbing elbows with royalty, and becoming the queen's favorite scribe. Not bad, for a woman living in a man's world. But a devastating past has left Sarah believing that God doesn't love her and that her achievements are the measure of her worth - a measure she can never quite live up to. Darius Pasargadae is accustomed to having his way.

To be able to learn about Jewish and Persian history in a novel that is filled with mystery and romance is a rare treat. I loved how Tessa infused Old Testament Scripture throughout the story as Sarah matured. I felt as if I grew right alongside.

War does affect women
Revisado: 09-09-19
The characters of Charlotte and Ruby formed an unlikely friendship that told an epic story from women’s point of view during the Civil War years. I learned significant Civil War history details that I had not heard before. I was thrilled to hear the narrator sing songs as they appeared in the story. These songs were important to the setting and allowed me to soak in the feeling of the moment. Laura Richcreek provided a clear voice that changed easily with the different characters yet remained comfortable to understand. Jocelyn Green offers up her intense research to provide readers with enjoyable lessons tucked inside a delightful and thought provoking story.
