Historia
Former bounty hunter Rachel Morgan has it pretty good. She has left the corrupt Inderland Runner Service and started her own independent service. She's survived werewolves, shape-changing demons, bad-hair days, and sharing a church with her vampire roommate, Ivy. She even has a cute (if human) boyfriend - what more could a witch want? But living with a reformed vampire isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Demon summoning boyfriends are a pain in the rear.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Good, the Bad, and the Undead to be better than the print version?
I think so. I came to the series late so I read the first 5 or 6 books really fast, but I LOVE listening to the series. I was so eager to get through each book I didn't stop to give the characters any vocal personality. This audiobook, Marguerite Gavin, does GREAT with the voices. The different voices give the characters more depth.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love Rachel, Ivy, and Jenks all for different reasons. I love Rachel because she's such a mess. I love Ivy because she wants more for herself and tries hard not to hurt (or kill) the ones she loves. Jenks... ah, Jenks. He is smart mouthed and sarcastic. Poor Jenks, Rachel and Ivy will drive him nuts.
What about Marguerite Gavin’s performance did you like?
Jenks. I laughed at Jenks when I read the book, but sometimes I laugh so hard my eyes water when Marguerite Gavin gives Jenks the annoyed, frustrated tones that she does.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I did on more than on occasion listen way longer than I should have and woke up groggy and very grumpy the next morning... what made it better? More Good, Bad and Undead!!
Any additional comments?
Rachel deals with her boyfriend and his demon summoning, Witches getting killed one right after the other, and learns something very interesting (and important) about herself and her late father.

Historia
Rachel Morgan is a runner with the Inderland Runner Services, apprehending law-breakers throughout Cincinnati. She's also a witch, one of the many Inderlanders who revealed themselves after a genetically engineered virus wiped out 50 percent of humanity. Witches, warlocks, vampires, werewolves: the creatures of dreams and nightmares have lived beside humans for centuries, hiding their powers. But now they've stopped hiding, and nothing will be the same.

Quitting a job has never been so life threatening.
Revisado: 09-27-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I absolutely would! There are lots of things I love about the Rachel Morgan (The Hollows) series... I love that there are all kinds of different beings. Pixies, Witches, Vampires, Werewolves, Fairies, Elves.... The story is mysterious and has action. The one thing... Rachel starts out kind of whiney. BUT, she does come into her own over the course of the series and that behavior stops fairly quickly in the series. She spends her time trying to survive assassins after she quit working for the "police force" for the supernatural's that "came out" after "the turn." You just don't quit the I.S.
What did you like best about this story?
Rachel. I love that she's a mess but just keeps going. She is always running into trouble and always seems to get out of it... either by sheer dumb luck or the support of her new found friends. But you can see that she's got potential, she just needs to see it herself.
Have you listened to any of Marguerite Gavin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I didn't find the book particularly emotional but I did sympathize with Rachel and I really wanted her and her little band to succeed.
Any additional comments?
Rachel is the main character but the other characters, especially Ivy (the self hating vampire who has a thing for Rachel), are well developed. Jenks, (the pixie), is a wise cracking side kick who adds the comic relief, "Tink's panties, Rachel!"

Great action with some romance.
Revisado: 08-21-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Omega to be better than the print version?
I can't say... I didn't read the book myself. I have found, though, some books don't work as well for me when I listen to them. The Penton Legacy books have so far worked for me on audiobook.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Omega?
When Randa and Will are trapped and he finally figures out what Aiden told her about him. Its also at this time they start to really come to terms with each other.
Which character – as performed by Amy McFadden – was your favorite?
She does all the characters well... I was nervous when they changed narrators after the first book but Amy does just as well, if not better. Mirren is always a character I like to hear voiced (and she does his voice well) I also like the way Amy plays Mirren's mate, Glory.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I don't think there were any moments that "moved" me, but I did feel worried when the grenade was dropped into the tunnel.
Any additional comments?
I have yet to read the 4th book but I'm definitely going to. I love the series for its simplicity. For me it is a good series of books to listen to at night before I go to bed. I like the characters and their personalities. I want Penton to succeed and its people to be safe.

Mirren Kincaid remembers the vampire he used to be - and he’s not going back. As the Slayer, Mirren served the Vampire Tribunal as its most creative and ruthless executioner. Then he refused a kill order and eventually found himself the protector and second-in-command of the peaceful enclave of Penton, Alabama. As civil war threatens to break out in the vampire world over the scarcity of untainted human blood, the Tribunal wants its slayer back - and has sent a beautiful witch to retrieve him.

Just as good as the first.
Revisado: 06-30-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Sure. The story was a little predictable but I enjoyed how it was put together. So far I love the Penton series because it isn't complicated. I LOVE Game of Thrones but the Penton books are great for sitting back to just listen and not have to try to keep up.
Would you recommend Absolution to your friends? Why or why not?
I would. Again its a great listen for a day of laying around. Rainy Sunday afternoon stuff. Its a great romance with some action.
What about Amy McFadden’s performance did you like?
I liked not only the way she did the accents but also the vocal "pace" she gave some of the other characters.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I can't say I was "moved" but I did like how Mirren was written. He has this damaged hero thing going on that was interesting to look at.
Any additional comments?
If one is looking for a simple but entertaining story for a weekend read, the Penton series is a great pick.

Love Khristine Hvam!
Revisado: 05-13-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely! I love Jane! She's so capable and willing to do what she needs to but she also does what she loves!
What other book might you compare Blood Cross to and why?
I would have to say Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. Both stories center around a kick butt woman who goes after vampires.
What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Khristine Hvam brings out the sarcasm of Jane. I love how she voices Jane.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I think the whole book kept my attention and I found myself always cheering Jane on or sympathizing with her. Faith Hunter and Khristine Hvam do an awesome job with the story.
Any additional comments?
I haven't listened to any other books narrated by Khristine Hvam but I have read another series by Faith Hunter. The Rogue Mage trilogy is wonderful!! I love Thorn St. Croix. If you like the way Faith Hunter writes you should really check out the Rogue Mage novels: Bloodring, Seraphs, and Host (in order).

During the day she went through the motions at her prep school, in class, with her friends, but that’s all it was. For Emma, life had stopped with Nathan’s death. But tonight was different. Tonight Emma and her dog were not alone in the cemetery. There were two others there - Eric, who had just started at her school, and an ancient woman who looked as though she were made of rags.

Kept me interested...
Revisado: 01-10-14
What made the experience of listening to Silence the most enjoyable?
Alexandra Bailey was able to read the story without being too slow and used inflection well.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Silence?
Drew burning an enemy using Emma as a conduit.
What does Alexandra Bailey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I have noticed that quite a few narrators seem to read slowly... (no don't have my settings on "slowed down") Alexandra read the book more slowly than I would have but her inflection and pitch and increases and decreases in volume made me more patient with the tempo of the narrator.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Emma's interaction with Maria and Drew made me a bit emotional... but I'm a mother so that might explain why I "felt" more during those moments in the book.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the story and it kept me listening long after I should have turned off my iPod. I will read the next book one way or another... ebook, audio, or from the library.

Love this series!
Revisado: 12-06-13
What did you love best about Skinwalker?
I think what I immediately liked about Skinwalker was the main character; Jane Yellowrock. I love that she's got attitude and is sarcastic and can kick butt!
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the way you learn about Jane in snippets... I think the bigger part was how the story flowed.
Which character – as performed by Khristine Hvam – was your favorite?
Definitely Jane. Although I did like the way she voiced Katie (of Katie's Ladies).
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Vampires and sarcasm don't mix?
Any additional comments?
I have actually read the first three or four books in this series... great storyline!

Xe Sands? I'm not so sure...
Revisado: 12-06-13
Would you try another book from Kelly Meding and/or Xe Sands?
Kelly Meding I'll give another shot to but I won't listen to Xe Sands again. It felt like the narrator was speaking extra slowly and all I could think was "Bueller, Bueller, Bueller."
What could Kelly Meding have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Can't say... didn't finish the audiobook.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Xe Sands?
So far some of the female narrators I have liked have been Khristine Hvam, Julia Whelan, and Johanna Parker.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Three Days to Dead?
Didn't finish the book... I'm probably going to just read it myself.
Any additional comments?
I gave the story almost an hour before I just couldn't listen anymore.
