This book has SUCH a fun and unexpected beginning! The banter between the main characters is awesome. I LOVED the twist with how Gregor offered to "solve" the problem with Birdie's neighbours. I was just waiting for Birdie to get REALLY angry with him for offering this shocking solution, I wanted her to be mad, to make him grovel, to make him feel guilty for acting so irresponsibly. Birdie is such a fantastic character with great ideas, energy, and self-confidence so I wanted her to say no to Gregor more often. I felt he should have apologies more profoundly instead of being just "understood" and "absolved" for all the drama he caused. Otherwise, the story is perfectly written, as always with Emma Prince's books! :-)

What a great beginning to a new series!

This book has such a great start and then it gets even better!!! So many emotions, feelings, so much pain and anguish, and then the beautiful happy ending. The narrator is just perfect!!! He adds SO MUCH to being transported to the Middle Ages! Emma Prince is a genius with how she places her characters in completely IMPOSSIBLE situations and then slowly untangles their drama and gives them the most beautiful happy endings!!!

I loved this story!!! It is such a great second-chance at love and life story! My heart was breaking for the female character. I was so happy to see her finally happy with the love of her life!!!

BRILLIANT in every way!!!

This book stole my heart for so many reasons. Mairin is the BEST female character. The epitomy of inner strength despite her devastating past. I love how the author made Mairin vulnerable, anxious, fearful, traumatised, and let her STAY vulnerable and anxious while fighting for her inner self. Mairin is not just "magically" transformed. She stays beautifully broken but this characteristic is turned into a special and great quality because of how Niall treats the woman he has been in love with for a few years with deep respect and admiration. He sees her as a perfect woman. He is a man of integrity in every way. It's imposdible to not love this couple and this excellent book. And the historical background is so wonderfully woven into this sweet, tender, and passionate love story.

Beautiful story!

What a whirlwind of a story this fantastic book is!!! A man who decided to care for nothing and no one and a woman who fears to trust and prefers to keep emotions under control. The plot is so well thought through. Every piece of the emotional puzzle the characters are in is such a delight to read. I LOVE how this author places her characters is impossible situations but then slowly untangles the webs of their fears, problems, dangers, feelings. This series is PURE brilliance!!!

The characters are so well developed, their relationship growing gradually with all the necessary doubts, heartache, heat, loving. It's one of those excellent enemies-to-lovers books when you just cannot WAIT for the characters to finally realise they are meant for each other. I truly enjoyed all the scenes where Reid notices how amazing Corrine is and how there was so much attraction between them even though they both tried to hide it/deny it. The plot is great too. Fast-paced, intriguing, fantastically written. Oh, and the historical details - as always with this author, superbly researched.

The intensity of this series is so palpable!

The author is a genius to portray such complex and kind souls like Helena and Logan. They struggle, they hide from the past, they don't even search for love as they are afraid of the feeling. And yet, they find each other and love is saving their lives. This is a story about running away from your past to a better future, about finding peace and honour, finding one's own happiness, about kindness and helping others. Logan's love for his sister is beautifully described. Helena is the kindest of souls. This book is perfection!!!

Oh, the angst, the drama!!!

This book deserves all the stars in the world. Yes, it is THAT brilliant.❤ The plot is excellent, the pace great, the love story intense. Nothing about this book, the surprises it holds in the plot, is obvious. It's like a game of chess indeed!!! 😉 I LOVE how Lillian is described as highly intelligent, observant, intuitive. Kirk is SUCH A COMPLEX character. Impossible not to love him and empathise with his search for true freedom. And if I though that Emma Prince put her characters in Heart's Thief in some difficult situations then...I was wrong. 😂 THIS book truly pushes the characters' to their extremes in the most delicious ways and then slowly gets them out of trouble and into the arms of love and happy everafter. 🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤

What a FANTASTIC story!!!

I loved how the female character, Rosamond, was portrayed in this book. She had the exact amount of love and kindness to heal Finn's emotional wounds from his past. The fast-paced plot and characters' love are flawlessly written. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💕💕💕💕💕 I didn't want this story to end. This series is easily the best historical suspense romance I've ever read. The author's talent to develop the characters is unparalleled. I need more of Emma Prince's books!!!
