Historia
This well-researched book identifies the wide-ranging harms resulting from mother- and father-loss, and it provides a roadmap for effective children’s rights advocacy. Whether you’re seeking to make sense of your own fractured childhood, or yearn to prevent similar struggles for the next generation, Them Before Us will equip you to be the adult who should have advocated for you as a child. By defending children’s rights, we protect the heart of every child and set a course that will decimate a myriad of the social ills currently plaguing our world.

Revisado: 12-12-24
While I would probably nuke my social life by saying this, she did have some good points. She definitely threw in some snark which could be off-putting attimes. I understand trying to throw in some humor, but the comments about career women waiting too long to have kids and being a victim of their own choices were just weirdly sexist and came off like she had a major chip on her shoulder. In spite of this, I think it's important to consider children's perspectives when our culture often considers it hate to question anything an adult desires. I do still support gay marriage because I don't think marriage is fully defined by having kids. We need to remember that these kids grow into adults too, and I think there should be a balance of needs. I would say yes, let's prioritize the kids in general, but I don't want their parents to live a totally miserable life either.

Historia
In her hit Netflix comedy special Baby Cobra, an eight-month pregnant Ali Wong resonated so strongly that she even became a popular Halloween costume. Wong told the world her remarkably unfiltered thoughts on marriage, sex, Asian culture, working women, and why you never see new mom comics on stage but you sure see plenty of new dads.

would prefer another format
Revisado: 04-03-21
It's a good book but it really needs visuals. I wish I'd either watched the show or got the physical book which has illustrations. The narrator is good otherwise. I personally wouldn't recommend it as an audiobook though if you have other choices.

In 1971, Hillary Rodham is a young woman full of promise: Life magazine has covered her Wellesley commencement speech, she’s attending Yale Law School, and she’s on the forefront of student activism and the women’s rights movement. And then she meets Bill Clinton. A handsome, charismatic southerner and fellow law student, Bill is already planning his political career. In each other, the two find a profound intellectual, emotional, and physical connection that neither has previously experienced.

Too much Billary erotica -- couldn't finish it
Revisado: 10-25-20
I like this author and I like Hillary Clinton, so I pre-ordered the audiobook. I couldn't get through it. For a book that was supposed to be about Hillary without Bill, there's an awful lot of Billary erotica. The narrator has an extremely accurate Bill Clinton voice which makes it 100x creepier. Also, I consider it a form of sexual harrassement to write explicit sex scenes about real people without their consent. After writing so eloquently about women experiencing sexism, you'd think the author would get it, but apparently not.
I assume the story improves with time, but I'm 4 hours in and I can't take it anymore. It's disappointing because the otherwise the writing is great.

Historia
Every day, we find ourselves in gatherings, Priya Parker says in The Art of Gathering. If we can understand what makes these gatherings effective and memorable, then we can reframe and redirect them to benefit everyone, host and guest alike. Parker defines a gathering as three or more people who come together for a specific purpose. When we understand why we gather, she says - to acknowledge, to learn, to challenge, to change - we learn how to organize gatherings that are relevant and memorable.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.
