New start to a new series!
Revisado: 01-27-21
I love the concept of this new series! I am excited to read about all the lives Parrish gets to experience. After. Bad car accident Parrish learns she has a special gift. She can not only see and talk to dead people, but can actually experience their lives. She is to use her gift to help those spirits holding on, complete their business and move to the light.
Book one was about Karlie and Dominic, Parrish’s biological parents. Most of the book is their story. Nic is from a mob family, and Karlie is his mistress. Nic adores Karlie. For her safety, he refuses to include her in any family business. Karlie feels like Nic doesn’t trust her enough to talk to her about his family life. This causes uncertainty and doubts in their relationship. Which of course bring secrets.

Warning: Cancer
Revisado: 12-14-20
What to say about this book. After losing close family to cancer, it is a trigger for me. I don’t like books about it. There is nothing enjoyable about reliving the hell that was that experience. I HATE when there is no warning for the reader about what they are getting.
That being said, as I was given this book for a review, I felt I had to listen. Mia was sooo unlikable to me. An illness is no excuse to treat people badly. She believes she doesn’t need to communicate with her boyfriend, her chosen mate, other half, anything that is happening to her. Yet he should be there, being supportive, being a “friend.” And when he tries to figure out on his own what is going on, he is the most creepy, untrustworthy jerk on the planet?!!! If you are choosing to be with someone, and they with you, that mean partnership. It is an AWFUL! partner who refuses to share life altering situations with the other. Yet it is always Adams fault that Mia refuses to let him into her life. She doesn’t deserve a partner. And honestly I lose respect for a person who lets someone else treat them so atrociously, and then accepts the blame for it.
While I feel for Mia being so young and dealing with cancer, I just couldn’t connect with her, or the choices she made, and definitely not how she treated Adam, then blamed him.

Frustrating characters
Revisado: 12-14-20
This book frustrated me. I love a nerdy hero. I love a strong female lead. I don’t enjoy useless, immature drama. For me the story dragged on without much to pull me back in. I was given this book for an honest review, so I felt compelled to finish it. I had to crank the narration speed up to 1.5 to keep myself from mind wondering.

Barely a book. Save your credit/money
Revisado: 11-25-20
I can’t believe they cut what should have been 1 book into 3. Talk about a money grab.
It really is a shame. I was truly enjoying this story. I was annoyed with the cliffhanger at the end of book 1, but I was engrossed in the story so I continued on. Book 2 is only a few chapters, not even 2.5 hours and it ends in another cliffhanger. This is just ludicrous. Save yourself the aggravation and buy a book that didn’t go through the shedder.

That was so fun! It was like I went to sleep in 2020 and woke up in the 80s. It was was so fun to stroll down memory lane. From the pagers to the slang to the mixed tapes. It was a trap in time.
Ben and Lucy have such a sweet story. I have a soft spot for childhood friends/first loves. It warmed my heart that they helped wake each other up after their struggle to dig out of mourning. They each experienced a devastating loss, the same loss, but obviously they each had their own perspective. Their journey was their own.
There was an excessive amount of flashbacks, but each one was proceeded but the sound of a tape rewinding. It was such a fun detail. I would say it is definitely worth a read!

Definitely a man's wetdream
Revisado: 11-24-20
A man on his first day of vacation meets identical quadruplets who jump right on the playing field, quit their jobs and move to another country. There was not much of a story line other than him living his dream (I mean, what man wouldn't like to be able to orgasm 4 to 5 times every make-out session) and having lots of sex. It wasn't my type of book, I didn't get to connect with the characters but I did learn some interesting sex moves.

Great High School Love
Revisado: 11-20-20
This is was great story of young love. What a great reminder of all the crazy feelings and insecurities that was high school. We have friends. We fall in love. We make bad decisions. We are swayed by those around us. We are unsure of who we are.
This was a very sweet story of young friends, Lucy and Simon. Lucy made a bad decision and hurt her best friend, thus losing him. She realized the error of her ways and decided to make huge changes to her priorities.
Simon was wonderful! I would have loved a Simon in my high school days. He was wonderful and forgiving and very helpful to Lucy in her strides at bettering herself.
I would absolutely recommend this sweet, innocent story of young love.

Historia
Three years ago, Anne Bennet broke it off with her summer love. At the time, her roommate's advice to drop the dead weight and start boarding school without a boyfriend seemed like a good idea. But now, Christopher is attending Shelfbrooke Academy, and Anne isn't so sure she made the right choice. The more time she spends around Christopher, the clearer it becomes that the two belong together. Too bad Christopher wants nothing to do with the girl who broke his heart with little explanation and no apology.

High school angst
Revisado: 11-20-20
This is my second MF Lorain book. She does a fabulous job of remaining us of what high school was like. It is such a hard time of trying to figure out who we are and our place socially. We make bad decisions. We are swayed by those around us. We are unsure of who we are.
Anna was struggling with those issues too. I really enjoyed experiencing her trying to find herself. This book was a nostalgic walk through memory lane.
I would have loved more time with Anna and Christopher together, and I missed having Christopher’s POV.
I would recommend this sweet, innocent story of a young girl coming into her own.
The narration was read good and expressive but WAY too slow. I had to crank it up to 1.7 to keep my attention.

Historia
He's a big, angry former Marine, and I'm going to be sore when he's done with me. Hawk Travers is not a man to be trifled with. I learned that lesson in the hardest way possible, first with a painful, humiliating public spanking and then much more shamefully in private. She came looking for trouble. She got a taste of my belt instead. Bryce Myers pushed me too far and she ended up with her bottom welted. But as satisfying as it is to hear this feisty little reporter scream my name as I put her in her place, I get the feeling she isn't going to stop snooping.

Too far across the line
Revisado: 11-20-20
I really struggled with this one. With the title Hawk: A rough romance, I went into it expecting some good kink. But I didn’t get what I was expecting. For me this one crossed the line. There is nothing sexy about abuse.
Seconds after meeting in the store, Hawk ripped Bryce’s skirt off her to publicly spank the hell out of her, during which he got totally turned on. Not only did no one help as Bryce was stripped of her clothing, and assaulted but several clapped. Who knew that being a journalist means you are fair game to be manhandled.
Hawk went on to beat her like 5 times in 2 days. He is described as 6’5 pure brawny muscle and having +150 lbs on her. But apparently he still needed to beat her with his belt, until his arm was too tired to continue but his cock was hard. After that lovely image, as she struggled to get away from him, he roughly grabbed her bruised bottom and said, “I want you. I will have you. And there’s nothing you can do about it.”
Other statements that made my skin crawl..
You’re responsible for this. Take your medicine like a good little girl.
He issued several brutal hits.
I’ve never wanted a woman this way. You aren’t leaving. Period.
As I was given the book for an honest review I continued on, when I normally would have called it quits. After the first few days of beat downs, the story got good. The mystery of what was going on was gripping and engaging. I even found Hawk to be likable.
I would have loved this book if not for the first few chapters of blatant physical and sexual abuse.
The narration was fabulous. Thomas Locklear did an amazing job reading both povs.

I could go for a Jake
Revisado: 11-19-20
I enjoyed this story. I really liked the story line and the characters. Jake is a cop who is secretly in love with his partner’s little sister. Luckily she is not so secretly in love with him. I would have loved to have more on them starting their relationship. Rather abruptly they were in a relationship and then the focus switch to protecting Jenny from her crazy dangerous stalker.
I enjoyed the story. However I found it certain things highly unbelievable. Jake gets placed on administrative leave because the chief gets upset when he finds out who his dad is. This wouldn’t ever happen in today’s world. That being said I read to escape reality, so I can ignore pesky details for the thrill of a great story. Melanie James did not disappoint!
