The beginning of Christmas
Revisado: 12-08-24
Every year I make it a point to read this book in December. I work in a retail environment so the end of November through December is sometimes the most difficult time of the year. It’s easy to feel like Scrooge does at the beginning of the book. Tim Curry does voices and really plays up the characters and ghosts well. I hope that just as Scrooge does, I can change and feel the spirit of friends and family at Christmas time.

Good overview of Napoleon

Though I am left a bit lost after finishing. I may need to go back and re listen to a few chapters. But I enjoyed it overall.

Historia
Founder of the largest indigenous Christian church in American history, Joseph Smith published the 584-page Book of Mormon when he was 23 and went on to organize a church, found cities, and attract thousands of followers before his violent death at age 38. Richard Bushman, an esteemed cultural historian and a practicing Mormon, moves beyond the popular stereotype of Smith as a colorful fraud to explore his personality, his relationships with others, and how he received revelations.

Great resource on Joseph's life
Revisado: 03-22-18
The way Bushman has written this biography is great. He tells it as though he sees Joseph Smith as a regular 19th century man with flaws and followers. I wish the narrator had done some research on the pronunciation of names and places, but he was engaging and it made the story come to life.
