Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Women's contribution to humanity.
Revisado: 06-23-24
This book and its story has made an impression on me that I will not soon forget. Often women's contributions are ignored and when it comes to Vietnam it was no exception. Many claimsed that there were no women in Vietnam but this story sets the record straight and highlights their contributions. it also illustrates the price they paid for their service there. Even our own Veterans government organizations did not help them. This is a story of the great struggles faced by these women who served in this unpopular war but also about the comrade that helps them to deal with these struggles and find hope. .Beautifully written and deeply touching.

Excellent episode
Revisado: 04-08-24
I loved this episode and actually the entire podcast. Edward, the guest, is very knowledgeable and addresses the idea of testing with several companies. He also reminds people they can upload Ancestry results to other sites which I just recently learned about. This is invaluable knowledge. Great podcast.

Killer Triggers

Historia
The most common triggers for homicide are fear, rage, revenge, money, lust, and, more rarely, sheer madness. This isn’t an exact science, of course. Any given murder can have multiple triggers. Sex and revenge seem to be common partners in crime. This book offers my memories of homicide cases that I investigated or oversaw. In each case, I examine the trigger that led to death. I chose this theme for the book because even though the why of a murder case may not be critical in an investigation, it can sometimes lead us to the killer.

Captivating Read

This story kept me captivated. The search for who we are can be like opening a can of worms and that was understatement when it came to Liz! What she discovers leads to so many changes in her life and the lives of others. Great Read.

Historia
Keanon Lowe was working as an offensive analyst for the San Francisco 49ers when his childhood friend and former high school teammate suddenly died from an opioid overdose. Keanon dropped everything–including the plum NFL job he had been working towards since childhood–leading him to a position as football coach at a struggling high school back in his hometown. At the time, Parkrose High School was in the middle of a 23-game losing streak–they were the ultimate underdogs.

A Remarkable Man and A Remarkable Storh
Revisado: 06-28-22
Keanon Lowe used his experience as a star collegiate football player to coach a high school team in one of the poorest areas of Portland to a district championship while influencing his players who came from fire circumstances. He taught them not only about football but also about life and not quitting when things get you down. He teaches them and an entire city about love when he stops a school shooter and then hugs the depressed young man.
I worked with Keanon's mom when he was in high school and knew of his commitment and hard work in football but this book showed me that he was a man with far more gifts than football. He is a man that can change the world one person at a time.
Well written and well narrated.

It was to be the most important case of Morton Farrier’s career in forensic genealogy so far. A case that had eluded him for many years: Finding his own father. Harley "Jack" Jacklin disappeared just six days after a fatal fire at his Cape Cod home on Christmas Eve in 1976, leaving no trace behind. Now his son, Morton must travel to the East Coast of America to unravel the family’s dark secrets in order to discover what happened to him. This is the sixth book in the Morton Farrier genealogical crime mystery series, although it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone story.
