One great, incredible story!
Revisado: 02-21-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Soul Smuggler to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version of the story. It may be hard, because of Mercer (Mike Vendetti) and his deep, gruff voice.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Mercer because he is the star of the book, and he is such a turn-on.
Have you listened to any of Mike Vendetti’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, I haven't, but it won't be my last time!
Who was the most memorable character of Soul Smuggler and why?
Mercer, again because he is the star of the story, and has that gruff, deep voice!
Any additional comments?
The author turned me onto Mercer and the story by allowing me to win this audio book. It will not be the only one I will listen to. I plan to buy more as my pay allows. Thank you to Mr. Milo James Fowler with all of my heart and soul. I loved this story, and Mercer.

It's almost midnight, bitterly cold and snowing, when a beautiful young girl, Tabitha Willard, throws herself off the Walnut Street Bridge into the icy waters of the Tennessee. Harry Starke is there, on the bridge. Wrong time, wrong place? Maybe. He tries but is unable to stop her. Thus begins a series of events and an investigation that involves a local United States congressman, a senior lady senator from Boston, a local crime boss, several very nasty individuals, sex, extortion, high finance, corruption, and three murders.

Harry is awesome!
Revisado: 04-23-16
I love this audio book! It is richly read by Tom Lennon. I thought Harry had some great one liners in the book. However, Tom made me laugh until my eyes cried! The premise of a young girl jumping off the bridge to her death, and Harry blaming himself, leads to a remarkable ending! From beginning to end, this book has it all. I still have a hard time believing that Blair Howard wasn't a p.I. in his former career.
I have had the pleasure of reading all of the books in the Harry Starke series so far. I swear they get better with each consecutive one. But, this is still one of my favorites. We are just getting to know Harry and his incredible humor. Each book after, we learn more and more about him, his past, his loves, and his incredible (jet owning) father. If you are looking for a great detective book, look no further.....but don't just stop there! Load up on all that you can. They are absolutely extraordinary!

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

A frighte story of the German occupation of France
Revisado: 07-29-15
Would you listen to The Nightingale again? Why?
ABSOLUTELY!!!! And, I will. This is a story of two sisters whose mother died and their dad was estranged by choice. The older daughter got pregnant, married and left her little sister. The younger sister became very rebellious (Isabel). Her sister had a nice house in the country. Germans came to room in every home they needed to. There is a lot of nail-biting suspense, violence and sadness. It is a book of the women and children during the war.
What other book might you compare The Nightingale to and why?
When I first got into the book, it reminded me of the mirror side of "The Paris Architect". That book is about a man who hated the Germans , but worked alongside them to stay alive, and at the same time, trying to hide Jewish people. In Nightingale, the ladies hated the Germans, but had to live with them in their home. They tried to help Jewish people get out of the occupied area. Both books have that fear of getting caught, tortured or worse.
Have you listened to any of Polly Stone’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I don't believe I have. However, she really made this book interesting and on the edge of my seat. I really got into the story.
If you could rename The Nightingale, what would you call it?
To Rise To The Occasion.
Any additional comments?
This is a powerful look at friendship (what would you do if you knew your neighbor and best friend was a Jew and you could be in serious trouble if the Gestapo finds out?), family (when tough love becomes necessary), living with the enemy (German officers force themselves into your home, and you have to live on pins and needles), and so much more that gives a glimpse of what war actually feels like.

Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Revisado: 07-29-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
For the most part, I found the book's subject about two different teens during WWII. Yes, I would recommend this book. Its main storyline is not all sunshine and roses. This book shows two perspectives of the war from two sides. And, it seems to also revolve around radio waves, and how it connects the two young adults.k
Has All the Light We Cannot See turned you off from other books in this genre?
Absolutely not. I believe there is a resurgence of this type of novel right now. This book had it's moments;however, the intent of this was to show how very brutal the war was for both sides.
Which scene was your favorite?
When her uncle showed her her hiding place behind the cabinet, and why that was so necessary. The uncle had wide range radio equipment to broadcast secret messages to the resistance while also playing musiç. He could be killed. No one was supposed to own a radio. He has hidden radio station equipment all over his house, and he was helping the French resistance at the very same time. Very clever.
Do you think All the Light We Cannot See needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. It is more of a stand alone book. It was kind of slow going for me. I think we readers have the capability to imagine life after the war. And, what more can be squeezed out of the story. No, I believe it should stand on it's own with no sequel.
Any additional comments?
It is a very bleak setting. In my imagination. The dark, cloudy and gloomy weather is representative of how the people of both sides felt all during the war. And, that radio signal made people cling to hope.

Private Vegas? Try L.A. for most of the book.
Revisado: 07-29-15
Would you try another book from James Patterson and Maxine Paetro and/or Jay Snyder?
I am not so sure. J.P. hyped up this book on T.V. so much, I should have taken the message that it would be below par.
What could James Patterson and Maxine Paetro have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Have the book be about Las Vegas instead of 4/5ths of the book be in Las Angeles. There was nothing "Private",and more certainly: even less written about Vegas. I even thought this was a different book altogether,
Which character – as performed by Jay Snyder – was your favorite?
The main character: the detective or private eye.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Private Vegas?
Probably the entire book, or ELSE RENAME THE BOOK!
Any additional comments?
James Patterson comes on T.V. at least 5x a day trying to look like Al Capone, but ends up looking like (I am sorry, Truman) Truman Capote, trying to make the book so tantalizing and intriguing. So much so, that adrenelin starts pumping until you have to have the book. You buy it, listen and ask yourself if you got a bad copy. There was very little about Las Vegas at all. Just a couple of perverted psychos. Was I ever livid when I was done listening to one of the worse books I have ever read or listened to.

The very best narrator & the very best story!
Revisado: 06-25-15
What did you love best about American Jackal: A Troy Stoker, M.D. Psychiatry Thriller?
It is extremely intriguing and the suspense keeps me excited! This book has it all.
What did you like best about this story?
There are several storylines that weave together seamlessly. Plus, there are very funny one liners! There are funny parts that really make me laugh. There are white knuckle parts. There are some sickly gruesome parts. And a real b!tch doctor.
Which scene was your favorite?
If I tell you, it might spoil the book. But, it involves very ravenous cyotes (or "Yotes", as SDSU rivals like to call them).
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Hang on, American Jackal is going to blow your mind!
Any additional comments?
The storylines are very addictive. Mr. Bob Dunsworth is the perfect narrator. He takes the words off of the page and really brings them to life. If I could only have one audio book for my entire life, hands down, this is the audio book for me. It keeps me glued and craving more.....can't and don't want to stop listening; just like when I was reading the book. It has everything you could ever want in an excellent book.

This is the best version so far!
Revisado: 12-27-14
If you could sum up A Christmas Carol: A Signature Performance by Tim Curry in three words, what would they be?
Excellent, Lively, Engrossing
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Christmas Carol: A Signature Performance by Tim Curry?
When tiny Tim was quoted as saying that he wanted to go to church so that the people could see him......... Also when anyone would make bad remarks about Mr. Scrooge, I'd feel very sad and it felt like emotional bullying to me.
What does Tim Curry bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
All the animated voices that he uses for each character in the book: he brought it to life in the best way for me.....he really made the story come to life like never before. Bravo!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When tiny Tim's family were gathered around the table together as a family unit, making the most of a bad situation..... and being joyful with what they had.
Any additional comments?
I wish to thank Ford Audiobook Club for giving me a free copy of this wonderful audiobook to listen to and give my honest review. I would've never thought to get this book on my own, because there are so many tv specials and movies. It gets tiring pretty fast when they are constantly bombarding you each year. However, Tim Curry breathed new life into this story like never before. I don't think anyone can top his rendition of the story. He did an excellent performance with so many different character voices that he used. It was absolutely outstanding! I am so glad that Ford chose this book for this month. Ford hit it out of the ball park two for two that I have been in their audiobook club. They sure know the very best audiobooks. Thank you Ford Audiobook Club!!. This, I can listen to more often.
