Love this book and this series. Definitely a fan of Gabrielle Sands. A rare 5 star.

There are a few things that make this 5 star, but the main thing is the time jump. 4 years was great. It aggravates me so much when it’s an unnecessarily long time lapse. Say 10+ years. It was so easy to love both Alek and Everleigh. The storyline was traumatic and emotional. This story had all the feels.

This is the cheesiest bunch of nonsense I’ve ever read. Word salad with a possible plot twist, but I just couldn’t care enough to keep going. Only made it 3-4 chapters if that. Wish I had my credit back.

Elle Kennedy set the bar high with The Deal series and the follow up series to it, so I’m super disappointed with this one. It is entirely too long when I’m already 4 hours in and there’s barely any interaction between the MMC and FMC because we’ve been given a massive amount of college student life minutia. I expect better!

I’m always thrilled when I find a 5 star box set! These were my first books of this author’s, and won’t be my last. Every book just got better. To me, the sign of a good author is that you can get pulled in by a story, then realize it’s just descriptions or dialogue of the characters; and you’re totally invested. Great characters, great storylines and great narration. I’m always there for Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood, but I’m a big fan of Joe Arden and Erin Mallon too. There was a bit of repetition, but only what was needed for stand-alones that are part of a series.

I usually don’t give a full 5 stars; but thinking back over this story, I can’t think of a single negative. Great characters, great story, great ending.

Horrible Female Voice

Female voice was nails on a chalkboard I kid you not. The male voice is ok for a different story, but not the voice of a mob boss.
Now for the story…what was up with the season/society?! I felt like this was the mafia version of Bridgerton. Do they only conduct business/kill people during certain months? The story had potential but it went south at the point where he rescued her, and the romantic parts were nearly vomit-inducing to me. I want to finish just to see what happens with the fiancée and father, but I don’t know if I have it in me. Thank goodness for free with membership, or I would be really mad.

It started ok, but devolved into an f-word filled, sex laden misery with the most disturbing and unrealistic doctor visits I’ve ever read. The MMC was likable, but too accommodating of the FMC’s crazy. The FMC…she was just plain psychotic. **spoiler alert ** Sitting in the floor surrounded by cupcakes 30 minutes after your water breaks is beyond quirky and downright idiotic/dangerous. And that was a mild example of the things the FMC did. I understood his struggle, and I actually understood her heartbreak; but her behavior was ridiculous.

This was my first book of this author, and I will definitely move on to the next in the series. The MCs were easy to root for. Great story, and I could listen to Savanah Peachwood read the phonebook. I took off 1 star for this book being written in 3rd person. It is confusing at times.

**a couple of spoilers below.
Let me say that I’m a huge fan of Mira Lyn Kelly’s slayer’s series, but I did have a couple of issues that, to me, took away some stars. I absolutely loved the characters (of course with the exception of Ray and Jess). Even the supporting characters were great, but I got a little confused with some of the details. Where were they when he chased her a year later, and what was going on with the sister and friend at that meeting? If it had not been explained later that his situation with Jess was right before he met Stormy, I would have thought it happened after they initially met in Vegas or happened twice. A few places just felt like info was missing. Also, this is a personal preference thing; but as much as I do enjoy the fake marriage story, I’m not a fan of the miscommunication twist when they just don’t want to admit they’re in love out of fear of losing the one they love. I don’t know if it’s just my age, but really? Are you better off not telling your feelings and losing your love, or taking a chance on telling them you love them and hopefully they love you too? That’s unnecessary angst to me. Finally, I am a massive Savanah Peachwood fan! This was my first Wayne Mitchell experience (that I’m aware of). Although he has a fantastic male voice and great expression, his female voice is cringy.
